I had a wonderful opportunity to acquire a gorgeous collection of early 19th century, circa 1820’s chintz. All English printed for the American market. A prestigious fine collection from a New England collector. I’ll be listing them all in separate listings. This listing is for a gorgeous early brown floral chintz. Roller printed & hand block printed. I salvaged the best parts of this one as some had damage inherent of both block printing & some early brown dyes over time, particularly iron oxide. Fortunately this length is still supple & appears overall good. I would probably still handle it with some delicacy. So good for things that won’t be heavily handled or used a lot. Quilt repair, framing, possibly a cover for a stool or similar etc. And excellent in a collection or archive as these are all very rare survivors. So early & so hard to find. Measures 23″ wide by 42″ long. If desiring the full panel, please enter a quantity of “2” & you’ll receive a length that is 23″ wide by 84″ long. I had a wonderful opportunity to acquire a gorgeous collection of early 19th century, circa 1820’s chintz. All English printed for the American market. A prestigious fine collection from a New England collector. I’ll be listing them all in separate listings. This listing is for an outstanding & amazingly beautiful early urn floral chintz. Roller printed & hand block printed. Gorgeous early palette of rose, greens, blues & browns. The ground is in the soft ochre range with some variance to the depth of color which is how the dye settled over time. The scale is large. Please zoom into all the lovely elements as it is beautifully created. Very overcast today so not certain my photos do this outstanding piece justice. Appears in lovely condition for it’s age with some variance to the depth of the colors, some surface patina & a few small random age spots. None detract from this extraordinary specimen. Excellent for many authentic early period projects & quilt repair, cushions, framing, possibly a cover for a stool or similar etc. And excellent in a collection or archive as these are all very rare survivors. This Listing is for. A Rare Antique Early Sino Tibetan Primitive Painting on Cotton Scroll Thangka. Faded and old but with a lot of charm. 123 x 57 cm. Age & Use related damages and defects! Paint loss in many areas, small holes and tears at the top and bottom edges. Please see all photos. Provenance: From a German private collection, collected in the 1920s.
