A unusually large primitive early 19th century Irish stick back’hedge’ chair, also known as a famine chair. The chair originates from the rural areas where a large part of the population in the 18th and 19th century lived in single-roomed dwellings, demonstrating the widespread rural poverty of the time. Featuring a thick single slab sycamore seat, turned beech front legs and ash arms, sticks and sycamore comb. The chair of wonderful colour and character, is in robust condition for age, with one fascinating period repair of a rear leg having been replaced in chiseled stick form rather than the other three beech turned originals. There are signs of some historic worm activity but the chair is structurally sound. Of particularly unusual, large size. Seat Thickness: 4.3cms. For sale is a spectacular late 19th century to early 20th century American tramp art miniature two over three chest of drawers with a mirrored back splash. This piece comes to us from a private estate. This piece is constructed of cigar boxes for the drawers. It has a two board backing which is all original to the piece. The construction is fine and is a wonderful example of early American tramp art work. When the drawers are pulled out you can see various stenciled markings from the different brands of cigar boxes used to construct this piece. Ce in over all good condition. We do notice some areas of loss and wear which is all age appropriate. The surface patina is all original. There’s find oxidation to the wood and the piece is in over all sturdy condition. As you can see the chair has great colour and patina. This rare early chair has a high hoop back with scribed decoration. There are turned spindles above a hooped arm and shaped supports. The seat is saddled and a single piece of solid super grainy Elm. The Ash legs are well tuned and joined by an H stretcher. A rare survivor in great retail condition ready for your home. Antique Early Georgian 6ct Diamond rose cut foiled back gold 18 k – RARE. Size of 11.80 mm(equivalent to 6.04 ct from visual point of view) / 9.40 mm (3 ct visually) and is very high rose cut. Diamond has an extra facet rough and pique also has several inclusions inside and is impossible to establish color and clarity because the foil underneath which has darkened. If you study picture from angle you will notice stone is white but appears grey because of oxidized foil. Diamond is set in gold 18k and was surrounded by 8 very small diamonds but because of age and wear only two stones have survived rest have fallen because their place has worn off because of time. On sides ring is decorated with fleur de lys this indicates it was made for French royalty. This is a very large diamond set in ring gold 18 k , no hallmarks but acid tested. Size of ring 8. Face of ring 13.72 mm / 13.5 mm. Weight 4.57 grams. Width of shank starts at 3.28 mm and goes to 2.13 mm I believe but not very sure that shank starting at the end of one of lilies flower until begin of the other flower was redone in Victorian times. Georgian shanks used to be thinner and less comfortable at wearing. Please study all the pictures this is a truly antique , rare ring. If you have questions don’t hesitate to ask. Early Antique Steiff Teddy Bear. Presented for your consideration is this antique teddy bear. The bear could be an early Steiff or something else, we are not sure. It has a jointed body with long blond mohair, tan pads and embroidered nose and claws. The bear is completed with glass eyes and is stuffed with straw. It has a hump back with a growler inside of the belly. The growler can be felt but unfortunately is no longer working. The body is jointed at the legs, arms and head. All joints move with ease. The button in ear tag is missing but the original red embroidering is still in the ear where the button would have been. The bear comes from a CLEAN, SMOKE FREE environment. This RARE early teddy bear would make a great addition to any stuffed animal or Steiff collection! Some wear is on the pads of the feet and hands. As previously stated the growler is no longer working and the button in ear tag is missing. A very small tear is in one of the hands. Otherwise the bear is free of rips and tears. Light wear from age and play. Overall in VERY GOOD condition for its age. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details. This all-original antique 12 high teddy bear has arms, legs and a head that move. The bear has gold mohair and straw stuffing. It is from 1910 or earlier. The eyes are amber glass with black pupils; black yarn defines the nose, mouth and paws. There is a hump on the upper back of the neck which indicates it was made 1910 or earlier, and a growler box which no longer works. The paw pads are made of a pinkish felt. The bear still moves perfectly and can hold poses. The fur is thin in a few spots. The right paw is damaged: the pink pad is worn through so the straw shows and the black yarn is frayed in spots.
