This is a very desirable example of North Queensland Rainforest Shield production in the first half of the 20th century: lacking somewhat in overall dimensions compared to the19th c. Examples, it nevertheless has the great individualised ochre graphics which make the earliest examples so desirable. It is substantially an excellent scaled-down version, and probably now equally rare. The Length is: 15 38 cm. Condition is excellent, with the ochres stable and in good condition. I have for your consideration a rare and beautiful French hand-painted oil lamp in porcelain of the Rocaille style, with polychrome gallant scene, musical instrument and portraits in reserves, late 19th to early 20th Century. It is placed on a baluster was terminated by a base with four feet volute. It is in excellent condition, with no chip, crack, hairlines, repairs… And without any wear to the gold. It measures approximately: 28.35 (72 cm) total height. Porcelain portion is 24.4 (62 cm) Height. This is a rare, collectible necklace with the added plus of being fabulously wearable! 36 inches long (91 cm). The brass beads have an average diameter of 17 mm, the glass beads average 3.5 mm. Rare Chinese short sword called paidao – China, 2nd half 19th early 20th Traditionaly this sword was used in combination with a round shield made of rattan. On one side of the blade is etched the Chinese ideogram meaning “protection”. Heavy single edged blade. Iron guard and pommel. The grip is made of wood. Strong and solid, no movement. This is a very well made item, constructed from brass this items quite exquisite in form and highly decorative with a quirky tactical feel. This item is completely made from scratch and pins moveable function is still very smooth when open and closed. This item is strong in form and shows a wonderful overall aged patina as shown in the photos provided. Quite simply, as our house style aims to deliver this item is unique and you wont find another one like it. This quirky and rare antique would make a great talking point in any cool interior. Very Rare Telegraph Pottery Art Nouveau Large Vase/Jardiniere Circa Early 20th C

Very Rare Telegraph Pottery Art Nouveau Large Vase/Jardiniere Circa Early 20th C. 16 cm (6.25) high. Rare Art Nouveau large vase/jardinière, probably made in the early part of the 20th Century, in the USA by Telegraph Pottery. It is not easy to identify early 20th century (or late 19th century) Art Nouveau pieces. There were many being produced, both in Europe, and in the USA, but they are all very rare now. This particular example, does have certain affinities, with many of the US schools, like Teco, Rookwood, Rumrill, Red Wing, etc. All are very collectable, and this is a superb example. This piece has a brown and green drip glaze, and gorgeous Art Nouveau styled moulded decorations. It is embossed on the base, with the “Telegraph” name, and the number #4. Very good condition, no chips or cracks, but fine crazing throughout. This rare Art Nouveau piece would make a great addition to any collection. Check out my other items. Large Early 20th Century Rare Antique Howard and Sons Barrel Back Armchair

Early 20th Century rare Howard and Sons barrel back armchair. The chair has the makers stamp on one back leg and all four casters. It has been stripped of its old upholstery to reveal an excellent frame in good condition. We can upholster this in the fabric of your choice at additional cost, please get in touch for more details. 121cm high, 79cm wide and 88cm deep. The seat depth is 60cm and and seat height is 53cm. The name Howard and Sons is probably one of the best known and highly sought after names in upholstered antique furniture. The company was started by John Howard in 1820 trading from 24 Leman St, London as a cabinet maker. Over the next 25 years they would make several changes of premises within the Whitechapel area first to 27 Great Alie St. Now just Alie St. Before moving a short distance to 34 Great Alie St. In 1844 the company made its first venture into upholstered antique furniture by opening a showroom/workshop at 36 Red Lion St. Their next move in 1848 was to their most famous location, Berners St, London which was named John Howard and Sons, Cabinet maker, upholsterer and decorator. The business seemed to boom from this location with workshops opening at Tottenham St, Charlotte Mews and Fitzroy Square plus expansion into a second building on Berners St in 1853. In 1869 the company consolidated its many workshops into one building on Cleveland St and by 1872 the company was occupying 25, 26 and 27 Berners St. These addresses remained unchanged until 1935. During this period of time they became a limited company in 1899 and won the first of their Royal Warrants in 1901.
