What an impressive Windsor chair with outstanding color! This square-back/rod back Windsor with its flared shield seat and its overall unrivaled features is listed as being rarely documented and with few examples found. A similar chair is pictured in Charles Santores, The Windsor Style in America Volumes I and II on page 247 of its New Discoveries section. Here the author reports, The number of never-before-published Windsor finds of exceptional quality and importance has compelled me to prepare this entire chapter on new discoveries. This chair is in good condition with no notable defects other than the expected scratches and nicks and overall wear. One stretcher pictured appears could benefit from being pushed deeper into the leg, but I havent attempted to do that. Original and very rare Victorian Early telephone The Magnet. The hand piece has a Bakelite horn mouth piece which has The Magnet stamped on the copper rim below it. The ear piece is Bakelite on copper rim. The handle is ribbed Bakelite and it has a long button which says press this while speaking. The very basic connections are still intact so could easily be made to work in fact I have checked the bell and it does work. It could even be wired up to be a doorbell! Heres an old original rare version ROOMS sign dating from around the 1940s and the era of the ma and pa boarding house hotel for traveling tourists. This sign is double sided with both sides displaying equally well and is all metal with bold embossed lettering. It is virtually a one of a kind of which ive never seen another one like it of this period type sign. Measures 12” x 4 1/8” and is in excellent all original condition for its age having superb authentic true character. This is a great nostalgic era display sign.
