I had a wonderful opportunity to acquire a gorgeous collection of early 19th century, circa 1820’s chintz. All English printed for the American market. A prestigious fine collection from a New England collector. I’ll be listing them all in separate listings. This listing is for a gorgeous early brown floral chintz. Roller printed & hand block printed. I salvaged the best parts of this one as some had damage inherent of both block printing & some early brown dyes over time, particularly iron oxide. Fortunately this length is still supple & appears overall good. I would probably still handle it with some delicacy. So good for things that won’t be heavily handled or used a lot. Quilt repair, framing, possibly a cover for a stool or similar etc. And excellent in a collection or archive as these are all very rare survivors. So early & so hard to find.
