Meissen Porcelain Magpie Bird on Stump Rare large
Meissen Magpie Bird on Stump Porcelain Large Art Deco. This is a handsome Meissen bird s perched on elaborate detailed grey tree trunk base with pastel green foliage. The Magpie is very lifelike, and finely modeled in a handsome pose, with a long raised erect tail. The bird has beautiful black and white plumage with a black face and coal black eyes, open beak with coral red tongue. On the undersides is the Meissen mark. The composition of the piece is exquisitely laid out in a natural setting. The coloration and glaze accentuates the beayty of the Magpie. Look carefully at photographs, for the molding on the wings, tail, feet and base branch… Details in the unique way that is the hallmark of Meissen porcelain figurines. It is finished in a shiny glaze and painted in vivid hues. The massive bird stands approximately 21 inches tall from base to top of tail on base of about 4 1/2” diameter. In very good condition with no damage that I have noticed. Meissen- Modelled originally by JJ Kaendler – The bird is marked underneath the base with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark and incised line below, and additional incised model mark 0f No. 62-Most probably very late 19th Century or early 20th century. The bird is from a private collection of birds- an antique entrepreneur of the 1940’s and 1950’s who amassed these porcelain figurines mostly in 1950’s- They are from the collection of my father John Hall Haardt- He carefully chose many fine Meissen, Worcester, Rosenthal’s. See my Mother’s Antique Magazine she colected years ago with Magpie and info. Meissen, near Dresden in Germany, started in 1710. The artistic influence of the designer J. Kändler and the painter J. Hoeroldt, formed the unique team that initiated the creation of delicate and fine wares, and Meissen gained a reputation for quality equal to that of the very finest Chinese porcelain in production at the time. This is a handsome rare Meissen bir. D naturally modeled and. Perched on an elaborate d. Etailed white tree trunk base with pastel green foliage. A wonderful addition for a serious collector. WELCOME TO MY LISTING OF THIS. SUPERB RARE EARLY 19th CENTURY CYLINDRICAL ESTATE BUREAU WITH HIDDEN PISTOL DRAWERS AND HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED FROM HAREWOOD & MAHOGANY AND IT MUST BE SAID IS A SUPER PIECE OF FURNITURE. This beautiful bureau has a host of varying size drawers including two pistol drawers and has a wonderful rich patina and colour and measures, 136 cm in height, by 113 cm in length and 58 cm deep and has some lovely detailing, it looks superb and will add character to any room in your home, no matter what the style. It shows only age related wear / character and some very tiny areas of loss to its veneer but should be classed as normal age related use for a piece of its age and type and is minimal and is ready for its new owner to enjoy. Rare Antique Lehnert & Landrock Héliogravure (Photogravure) Early 1900s DESERT
Rare Antique Lehnert & Landrock Héliogravure (Photogravure) Early 1900s. This vintage photo measures 11.75 x 9.5 inches and is ready for framing. The photograph is in very nice overall condition (rounded corners – pictured). It has the LEHNERT & LANDROCK logo in the lower left-hand corner with the number Nr. This is one of a large collection of. LEHNERT & LANDROCK original photographs that I will be listing. I believe that the are all from the 1920 – 1930’s. Their hand-tinted photographs featured Egyptian and Tunisian monuments and, more controversially, eroticized images of Arab women posed within harem scenes. Lehnert & Landrock’s photographs attempted to embody a romanticized vision of the Arab world held by Europe. The artists were Rudolf Franz Lehnert, born on July 13, 1878 in Velká Úpa, Bohemia, and Ernst Heinrich Landrock, born on August 4, 1878 in Reinsdorf, Germany. Upon returning from a trip to North Africa, Lehnert met Landrock in Switzerland and the two decided to go into business together. Lehnert acted as the photographer and Landrock organized the expeditions, photolab, and marketing of postcards, posters, and prints. They lived both in Tunis and Cairo but periodically made trips back to Europe throughout their lives. Today, their works can be found in the collections of the Penn Museum Archives in Philadelphia, the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, and the San Francisco State University Museum, among others. Lehnert died on January 16, 1948 in Reydef, Tunisia, and Landrock died on April 30, 1966 in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Photographic Images\Photographs”.
