Along with Soetsu Yanagi, was one of the founding members of Mingei a Japanese folk art movement, which promoted the philosophy of the peoples craft (minsh-teki-na kgei) in postindustrial Japan. Up for sale is a very rare antique early 19th century English brass and cast iron doorstop. This ornate doorstop is cast out of thick brass and mounted to a solid cast iron base. It has a hand turned shaft with a scalloped finial and has acquired a lovely patina from age.
