RARE EARLY MEDIEVAL SILVER PLATED IRON PRICK SPUR. Information: A rare silver plated iron prick spur in the form of a spike. Spurs would have been worn by both men and women and were used for military as well as civilian purposes. Condition: Silvering still remains with good metal for iron. The finial depicts a hare and pheasant entwined, the detailing is superb, feathers to back and front of pheasant and the hare again has stunning detailing to both sides, please see photos. A beautifully ancient part of a Roman gold earring , dating circa II – III century A. This wonderful gold earring displays the great craftsmanship of the ancient goldsmith who created it. The terminal is in the form of a shield with five small circles and the details are remarkable for such a small piece. The earring is formed of five strands of twisted gold wire, two of which are twisted filigree and the other being plain twisted wire. The terminal has chased decoration as well as applied coiled and filigree wire. Condition: Excellent, beautifully preserved, with no restorations.
