Not including the handle this sweet diminutive box measures 6″ x 2 1/4″. With handle extended it is 4 1/2 tall. The surface is original with a bit of crackling. Made with copper brad and wooden peg construction. The silk lining has cotton backing. Comes with all that you see. I believe the photographs give an accurate read.
The large style is a very rare one dating back to the 1700’s with a Puritan or Shaker and Colonial design. If you love rare early lighting antiques this one is a show stopper and we’ve only seen a similar one in history books and a few museums over the years which is where we also hope this one ends up.
Offering this unique flat pantry box. Measures 9.25″ x 2.5″ thick. This is a sweet piece and first I’ve had pleasure of owning. Displays a nice wear and patina. In good overall condition. The side of the lid has son loss and around nail construction as seen. There’s a small hole/puncture on the side but nothing is loose. Signed on the bottom AS. Has a tag on it with a number I left as found. Perhaps was in a collection or museum. Great piece for your collection. As found from dealer out of Pittsburg.
