Incredible glaze, figuration and surfaces make this a memorable, extraordinary work of antique Ame ri can ceramic art. One magnificent, killer bowl. Clearly signed on the base plate with a black ink Weller Pottery maker’s mark stamp. The small episode of bone white ceramic glaze loss on the base plate to the right and top of the Weller Pottery black ink stamp, is the only noticeable, fairly significant instance of appreciable damage to the dish. No attempt has been made to rectify or to correct this condition issue or to professionally restore this affected area. We decided to leave it exactly as we found it where it was discovered in the South Shore Massachusetts estate where it had been, largely undisturbed and perhaps forgotten, for years and years, apparently with only one previous owner.
