A charming antique bronze figural wax seal handle, crafted as a rustic traveler standing atop a turned base. Early handcrafted examples like this – with expressive features, textured clothing, and a warmly aged patina – are increasingly hard to find. The figure carries a sack over his shoulder, rendered with lively character typical of European artisan work from the late 19th to early 20th century. The underside appears prepared for a seal matrix (not present), making it both decorative and collectible. A lovely collector’s piece with appealing age and intact details. Exceptional small bronzes of this type rarely stay available for long.
For this sake I have a wonderful early 19th century pie crimper. Made I believe from bone with a thick handle. It is so well made, and I believe it is a sailor made piece. It is double ended, with the wheel at one end and a curved crimped edge at the handle tip. It measures 5 3/4 inches long. It has some nice incised line decoration, adding to the charm of the piece. Rare to be double ended and made from bone, it is in excellent condition, and is a nice piece of early folk art!
A rare and superb late 19th Century anatomical wall chart depicting the human skeleton, marked. Schreiber’s Anatomische Wandtafeln’. It comes from the workshop of Ferdinand Schreiber, whose Munich-based publishing house was established in 1831. It is printed onto heavy canvas-backed paper with a fold in the centre for storage. Excellent original condition with minimal fading, original wooden poles to top and bottom, and without tears. Marked in writing to the reverse “Das Knochengerust”, meaning “The Skeleton”. If you do make an offer, please do not be offended if it is rejected. I strive to offer only the best quality items at the most competitive prices that I can. Overseas buyers are welcome, import charges may apply. This item will be carefully packed and promptly dispatched.
