This original antique 6 panel rugby football which dates from between 1890 and 1920 so would be from the time rugby and football were crossing over into two separate sports. Is a smaller size. Has three lace holes with string laces and is made of brown leather. The bladder is the original seamed type with a tube valve and has been fitted inside the ball inflated but does not hold air. The ball holds it’s shape well for display. This early great looking ball which has lots of age related wear is a very rare piece and would make a great collectible display ball for a rugby football fan. Dimensions: Length: Approx 31 cm with curve. Circumference: Approx 55 cm (21 3/4). Condition: Well used antique condition with lots of scuffs, scrapes, scratches and marks. This is a miniature pulpit and chained Bible from the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. Bible is fragile and the last page is missing ends in Revelation ch. Front cover is detached, most of spine cover missing and rear cover is missing. The pulpit is good and sturdy with good cosmetics.

There are large fringes trimming this tablecloth. The shape of this tablecloth is rectangular with a good length that indicates that this beautiful trousseau cloth was meant to cover a long table. They are usually woven in damask, a weaving technique that produces a reversible fabric with an elaborate glossy pattern against a matte background. Check, roses, flowers and leaves, crowns, art nouveau, patterns weaving are gorgeous. Antique towels and napkins are made from the best linen quality, with a silky touch due to the high quality long linen fiber. They are very durable textiles that become wonderfully supple with time. Ideal to wash warm and perfect to use everyday, they are fine also for period textile projects. Antique linen is a living material, if you treasure it, it will reward you a hundred times. A lot of antique textiles are so robust and wonderfully easy to wash and maintain. The fibres of these exceptional fabrics were grown without any use of chemical, these textiles are organic. No need to use chemicals to wash antique textiles, a good simple natural soap such as the savon de Marseille is fine for every kind of linen. The textiles can be machine washed on warm. The warmer ithey will be washed, the softer and floppier they will turn. Again, no need to use a softener, a dash of white vinegar or a spoon of baking soda are perfect to maintain these wonderful textiles. Dry them on the line if possible, expose them under sun light to brighten the natural white. The textiles I propose show signs of times, marks that are a moving, precious treasure which attests a bygone era. I will always try to describe them as accuratly as possible, giving many details, measurements and pictures to show the reality of the linen. Estimating the age of a fabric is not scientific but rather archeologic, many signs are useful, such as the stitches, the embroideries, the sewing, the colour, the texture, even the smell of the fabrics can help. Sometimes, the auctioneers or the owners give me precious information about the origin of the trousseau, monograms, name of the ancestors. Experience is also crucial to feel and judge the fiber content, the age, the origin or the use of the textile. I will strive to describe the textiles in the most complete way, using my honest judgement, having spent many years manipulating them. Please note my textiles come from a smoke free house. When they are freshly laundered, the textiles have been washed with natural organic soap and sun dried on line. Items are sent carefully wrapped in silk paper. Made By : Stevenson and Hancock (early Royal Crown Derby). It is a beautiful miniature tea set comprising of. That measures 3½” inches high x 5″ inches from handle to spout. That measures 2¼ inches high. That measures 1¾” inches high with a top diameter of 3″ inches. This really is a wonderful antique set. It is in very good condition, I would say it has been kept in a cabinet for most of it’s existence. The only very minor flaws I can see are small piece blue missing on one of the flowers on the teapot. And a very very small chip on the run of the cream jug, but when on display these flaws cannot be seen and that is it. It is fully backstamped on the bases of all three pieces. Second class signed for.
