This is a lovely and fine pair of RARE Antique Old Early California Landscape Paintings (2), watercolor on paper, by early 20th century California Impressionist painter, Stanley Louis Rubens b. These artworks depict lovely and delicately rendered California landscape scenes. The painting on the left displays a colorful forested scene at sunset, with the warm orange glow of the setting sun illuminating the distant sky. In the foreground, a winding creek flows across the scene. The painting on the right displays a masterful landscape scene, with a placid lake nearby and an azure sky above. Both of these artworks are signed: S. Rubens in the lower right corners. These artworks are undated, but very likely date to the mid – late 1910’s, after the artist had settled in Los Angeles in 1914.
