This is a very finely made early 20th century Japanese model of a rickshaw with retractable hood in good condition. The highly detailed model which is almost entirely made from pieces of natural shell with the exception of the metal handles, wheel spokes, and brackets and pins that join the pieces of shell together. The hood comprises three overlapping sections. Dimensions: 17.5 cm length x 7 cm width. Condition: The condition given the delicate nature of the model is very good. It appears to be complete down to the two lights either side of the cab. Apart from being a little dirty there is just one crack in the shell, sitting behind the right-side light fitting (most visible on the last photograph – it’s the furthest light fitting).
