Very hard to find, if not a rare novelty handcrafted toy from, the port of Kobe in Japan. This is one of several I shall be listing over the coming weeks but collected over a 30 year period. During this time have seen few other example of this model in this condition and working perfectly. Very tactile and complete with it’s original plate bottle and fish. Japanese Antiques EDO MEIJI retro JIDAI chest CHOBA-TANSU This is a compact Japanese chest of drawers that is over 120 years old and has a nice aged look. This chest of drawers is made of natural wood and has a nice feel. If you place it in a room, it will create a retro Japanese atmosphere. There is no key. An antique Japanese/ Korean red lacquered sewing box with three chestnut wood drawers front. All original lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware handles. With hardened wood nails. Rare antique Japanese miniature / model of a rickshaw, early 20th century

This is a very finely made early 20th century Japanese model of a rickshaw with retractable hood in good condition. The highly detailed model which is almost entirely made from pieces of natural shell with the exception of the metal handles, wheel spokes, and brackets and pins that join the pieces of shell together. The hood comprises three overlapping sections. Dimensions: 17.5 cm length x 7 cm width. Condition: The condition given the delicate nature of the model is very good. It appears to be complete down to the two lights either side of the cab. Apart from being a little dirty there is just one crack in the shell, sitting behind the right-side light fitting (most visible on the last photograph – it’s the furthest light fitting).
