[Recently discovered in southern New Hampshire in an early post and beam farmhouse on what was once a large, working farm, with various barns & horse stalls]. Early 19th century Ame ri can folk art, New England primitive antique, hand decorated, painted, sewn heavy leather fire buckets. 12 ¼” Height x 8″ top Width x 6 ¼ Base. Offered for your review and consideration is this absolutely wonderful and just recently discovered in southern New Hampshire, hand decorated, hand sewn heavy leather upright fire bucket, featuring gold gilt enamel paint over an emerald green painted field, with’No. 2′ hand painted along the top margin, signifying which firefighting pump or ladder truck it was associated with and belonged to. The date of its realization is hand painted along the lower margins’1826. There’s some slight to moderate gold gilt enamel loss only in this area contained within the banner. The heavy sewn leather seams are still incredibly intact and complete, with no thread loss. The leather sidewalls aren’t distorted or deformed. The bucket is now missing its original leather wrapped carrying handle, which had broken free of the leather side hoops. A beautiful, original, unadulterated antique piece of Ame ric ana. Found in southern New Hampshire. The fire bucket hasn’t been touched. It remains as it was when it was removed from the estate it was originally discovered in and to which it was associated with for many, many years. Thrilling and a summation of why those of us who do this, do this. An absolutely thrilling and exhilarating discovery. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. A famous maker, Benjamin Burt, of Boston made this wonderful shellback serving spoon sometime between the mid to late 1700s. Master gold and silversmith, Mr. Burt both learned the trade from his equally famous father John, and his siblings, and was master to many other notable makers. This incredibly strong looking spoon, is just that-no skimping on silver content here, and the sweet shell just above the drop makes it his very own brand of spoon. A special spoon approaching 300 years old has the longevity to tell a story, and this one’s written all over it in character! This rare find, from a man whose wares are housed in the great museums of this country, is a welcome choice. This gracious spoon remains in good antique condition. See condition description for exceptions. And will continue to endure with the loving care of a collector! Length: 8in (20.3cm). Weight: 1.45 troy oz (45g). RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE, SMALL, DIMINUTIVE 10 in HEIGHT, BURNT UMBER, BURNT SIENNA & SEPIA BROWN DIPPED over YELLOW OCHRE, HAND DECORATED, GLAZED OVOID STONEWARE CERAMIC HANDLED JUG. [Complex, variegated glaze color is achieved by dipping the yellow ochre glazed stoneware jug repeatedly in burnt umber, burnt sienna & sepia brown glaze, achieving the semi-transparent, layered colors we now see]. Early 19th century Ame ri can folk art, New England primitive ovoid shaped, hand decorated, handled stoneware ceramic jugs. 10″ Height x 6 1/2 ” Width x 4 ” base Width x 1″ Inner rim. X 1 5/8 Outer rim. Offered for your review and consideration is this subtle but still nonetheless very beautiful, hand decorated, early 19th century Ame ri can folk art, New England primitive, antique small, 10 in height, hand decorated ovoid stoneware handled ceramic jug. It features simply fantastic variegated brown, semi-transparent glaze in burnt umber, burnt sienna and sepia brown, hand dipped over an initial yellow ochre or putty white base glaze. The result is an incredible, layered symphony of overlapping color, resembling a work of fine art with layered color crepe paper. There’s only one slight, minor ceramic chip on the outside margin of the baseplate, where the sidewall meets the bottom. No attempt has been made to repair, conceal or otherwise minimize this honest and sole damage to the entire jug. The unglazed baseplate of the ovoid jug demonstrates its age and early, nearly 180 to 200 year old antique pedigree. A veritable, well-preserved gem from our collective New England primitive past. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Kitchen & Home\Dinnerware & Serveware\Jugs & Pitchers”. [Found in southern New Hampshire and most likely an early New Hampshire paint decorated pine box and not an early Maine paint decorated pine box, due to the delicate & fine nature of its paint decoration & refined features]. Early to mid 19th century New Hampshire paint decorated, early pine wooden boxes, trunks & other decorative wooden accessories. 13 1/4″ Width x 8 1/4″ Depth x 6 Height. Estate fresh and in simply extraordinary condition. Early New England, antique hand decorated, painted wooden pine boxes don’t come much better than this. Estate fresh, 100%, absolutely untouched and as it was when it was discovered in the early post and beam southern New Hampshire estate it was removed from. According to family sources, this and many of the other antique items found in the same home, were there for as long as any of the descendants could remember. The pine box features old ox blood, chalky red painted exterior finish, featuring combed, squiggly charcoal black decorated, repeating motif, with original rear, early wire lid hinges and original front lock assembly, with black enamel painted cut, flat stock tin key escutcheon. A simply extraordinary early New England primitive painted artifact in just gorgeous paint. Most likely made in New Hampshire between 1825 to 1850. Probably a New Hampshire hand decorated, painted early pine box and not a Maine one, due to the delicate, dainty quality of the paint decoration and refined form of the diminutive box. Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition. Only the left interior pine wooden lid slat’hold’ was snapped off at its mid-section at some previous juncture in time. Nothing has been done to the box to remedy this isolated damage to the box, which is now anywhere from 175 to nearly 200 years old. A truly exceptional, extraordinary New England primitive and early Ame ri can antique. Perhaps for those who truly understand the distinct and clear difference between a Datsun and a Lexus or between a Volkswagon and a Porsche, if you prefer the Ger ma ny analogy over the Jap an ese one.
