Interesting plane probably from mid 1800s. Early infill plane of the type made by Slater, Spiers and Norris. It has a heavy cast bronze body with hardwood infill, but the way of securing the blade looks back to older wooden planes. There is a substantial wooden wedge, no adjustment mechanism, and no metal bridge to support the blade. Instead it is held by lugs cast in the sides of the body. The plane is in good condition generally with dust and marks of age and use. There is a crack in the wood infill at the back which probably goes right through along the grain, please see the last 4 photos. Antique 1800’s Early American Cast Iron Horse Head Hitching Post. This rare style is 14 tall and weighs 25 pounds. Its a 3 diameter post. We see no foundry marks. Cast in massively thick iron (over 25 pounds) this 19th century horse head is in very good condition for sitting outside for well over 100 years. There are no cracks or repairs, but there is some rust and pitting, which you can see in the photos. Please see the photos as they are part of the description and to assess condition. Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous American hand made early-mid 1800’s tiger maple candle storage box. The body of the box is made of 3/4 thick, solid tiger maple wood with rich, mellow coloration and prominent graining. The box is a larger size than normally found and has a dovetailed construction with wide bordered chamfered sliding top with locking mechanism. The key hole has a brass edge and we do have a working key which may or may not be original to the box. The wide dovetails are set far apart which is generally a sign of older construction. Candle boxes are generally rectangular boxes with tight fitting sliding lids and were generally made from less expensive woods as they were made to be utilitarian storage boxes used to protect candles from rodents. This box was definitely made by a very talented wood worker possibly as a gift for a special person due to its construction details and use of a more desirable wood than normally used. Measures 15″ long, 8″ wide and 6 deep. Weighs 6.3 pounds. This unusual tiger maple box is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws reflecting only minor signs of normal wear. This is a rare antique early 1800s American military figural eagle head sword. It measures 36.5 inches in length, the blade is 31 inches and 1.25 inches wide. There is a crack in the handle, pictured on one side. There is a design to the blade but there is such a dark tarnish to the blade it is barely visible, im not sure how it would clean up. This is a better quality eagle head presentation sword then most you might find. I do not see a makers name , again because it is so tarnished.
