RARE Early Vintage 1950's George Nakashima Studio Pair Captains Chairs Walnut
D ROSE MOD, Inc. RARE Early Vintage 1950’s George Nakashima Studio Pair Captains Chairs Walnut. Listed for sale is an original pair of George Nakashima captain’s chairs, never refinished and in gorgeous original condition. Uniquely, the two chairs vary dimensionally from more recent examples produced at the Nakashima Studio. Per the last two photos in this listing, the chairs were both brought to Mira Nakashima for authentication and assessment. Due to the informal nature of production in the 1950’s, Mira believes these to be early examples prior to George deciding on a single specific dimension. She also believes that they very well may have been special ordered for a couple with one taller and one shorter individual. As a result, the backrest crests vary from one another. Mira will be providing a written letter, which will be made available to you upon purchasing the chairs. Furthermore, I have an order card (not specifically mentioning these chairs, as it was a later order card) from the Nakashima Studio from the same family, as this came from an estate with many Nakashima pieces. The price listed is for one chair. Both chairs are available. And I will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. I work with a shipper locally who has great prices and has been complemented often on their superb packing. D ROSE MOD was founded in order to pursue a passion for modern design. The business began as a collection with an emphasis on furniture by Charles and Ray Eames. This collection now explores modern design icons across many decades, designers, and materials. Today, D ROSE MOD offers collector and museum quality pieces with the hope that you will share the same passion. Thanks to years of experience and familiarity, we are frequently able to refresh our inventory with rare pieces by designers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Mies Van Der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Hans Wegner, Florence Knoll, Poul Kjaerholm, George Nakashima, and many others. We represent that the goods are as described in the above listing. We specifically disclaim any fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Customers should satisfy themselves that any item choice made is suitable for their intended purpose or use. You may also be interested in.. View more great items. Template by Froo Apps. Each Urn is 11 tall and have the Lefebvre mark underneath with a V mark. The pieces are in good condition with some wear to the paint. One of the Gilded Ladies has a repaired head and a hairline crack just below the shoulders (see photo). I believe the urns would have had lids originally which I do not have. This is an amazing and rare set of urns by this important maker that will be a welcome addition to any collection. PAIR RARE LATE 18th-EARLY 19th C. PIETRA DURA HARD STONE / MARBLE CANDLE HOLDERS
Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a very unusual pair of antique English Pietra Dura hard stone inlaid on marble candle holders. These unusual candle holders are made of black marble and feature the front panel with Pietra Dura hard stone decoration with beautiful coloration in the stones. Measure 10″ tall with the candle opening being 1″ in diameter and a base diameter of 4 square. Weight is 6.0 pounds. These gorgeous candlesticks have some minor nicks in the marble as expected with functional items of this age. The flaws are minor no-harm nicks around the bottom edge on corners and one candlestick has a small chip on the upper rim (see photos). The Pietra Dura inserts are in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. No other noted flaws. Felt cover on bases as found. This is certainly a UK piece made in Ashford Derbyshire during the 18/19th centuries. Similar pieces/styles in Chatsworth House, Derbyshire and go under the name Ashford Marble. Give away is the limestone coral inlay which is shown on the side of the piece – Italians so never had this sort of coral limestone. In Derbyshire it is very common and was turned into all sorts of architectural/monastic columns/items. The product is quite rare. Easy to check – Ashford marble is a natural bitumen filled marble (mined locally in Ashford under water) which takes a high polish when cut and burns when heated. Flat Italian pieces used a different stone with no bitumen. We at Antiques & Moore have been in the Antiques business for over 30 years and try to describe our items as accurately as possible. We are happy to answer any questions and always appreciate your business! The item “PAIR RARE LATE 18th-EARLY 19th C.
