Wonderful and rare antique French doll, Jumeau Triste Doll, on early French Composition Ball Jointed Body with straight wrists, 24 tall. She is known as the long face Jumeau, as she has a wistful expression. She was only made from. 1893 to 1898, by the French sculptor Carrier-Belleuse, as commissioned by Jumeau to make this very special doll. She wears a wonderful silk lined, wine red velvet & lace dress, with a bebe bonnet. She has a full slip and pantaloons with lace. She has all her fingers, Closed mouth, Incised on the back of her head is “11”. This Jumeau Triste is one of the most stunning examples of this rare and much sought after antique French doll. She has one of the most beautiful faces of this model. Her bisque head shows no chips or cracks. There is a restoration inside front top of head that is not visible outside of the face. There is a hairline inside top right of head that is not visible on the outside of the face. The body has been repainted. She has one earring, applied ears. She has fixed bulging brown eyes, silk stockings, leather shoes. A beautiful blond wig with long curls, marked in label 100% cheveux naturels. Made in France, 100 % human hair wig, and replaced cork pate. Up for sale is a antique German Early Antique 9 1/2 Paper Mache Milliners Model Doll. Very Rare Tucked Comb Hairdo. This is a rare antique milliners doll. Head, arms and legs are wood. Body is cloth stuffed with sawdust. She is 9.5 tall. Her clothing is all original and in excellent shape. Head, arms and legs are hand painted. Paint on face is cracked and partially flaked off. Condition: Multiple hairline cracks and crazing to her face. Paint loss and crazing to head, hairdo, front and back. Overall normal wear from age. No issues with arms and legs. Very Rare 7.75 1840s Pink Tint China Doll On Articulated Wooden Body Early Bun

Amazing example of an early 1840s china doll on wooden body. She measures about 7.75 tall. You will get the clothes that she came in, which I carefully removed with a seam ripper. They were not in good condition, so I did not feel badly about taking them off to inspect her body. Her clothing appears a little later than she is from, probably from the late 19 century. I have not seen any damage to her China. On the back of her shoulderplate near the bottom, it appears that part of it is not completely glazed and is a little rougher. I dont think this is damage, but in original flaw. This is the first of this kind of doll Ive had with a China head, and her arms at the top where they meet the shoulder feel a little loose. Perhaps this is the way they were made. It does appear like there is part of the wood missing from her left buttock area, although this is not super noticeable. Tiny rare early long face antique Bebe Schmitt doll mariner costume perfect

Here is a beautiful and rare, early long-faced French Schmitt bebe in tiny cabinet size from early mid 1880’s. She is about 14 tall and is marked size 5 with shield on back of her head. She has perfect pressed bisque head with NO repairs, chips, cracks, hairlines, wig pulls or damage of any kind. She has dark blue paperweight eyes. Her painting is delicate and fair in color and she resembles an early EJ Jumeau but with more subtle painting. She has a dreamy expression and darling in this rare small size. Her body is fixed wrist wood and composition Schmitt body with flat butt. It is not marked but is definitely a Schmitt body. She has her original cork pate, blonde mohair wig, antique socks and shoes, and is wearing an antique will cream color mariner outfit that has a few moth holes. Of course there is a matching hat. This is a lovely doll for an advanced collector. No French doll collection should be without a bebe Schmitt!
