ANTIQUE RARE MILITARY BELT BUCKLE WITH LION GILT BRASS BUCKLE – EARLY MILITARY. Very interesting and scarce antique belt buckle – the belt seems to be standard British army belt that was first used in the 19th century, bullion thread onto red leather with compartments to the inside. The buckle itself is frustratingly difficult to pin down to a country or regiment, the metal has been gilt and not machined like the ww2 era buckles which leads me to suspect it’s earlier. Adorned with acorns by belt loops – reminds me of the German buckles but of course no lions although the ottoman lion with German acorns may represent the ww1 alliance? Perhaps an ottoman regiment? It’s a bit of an enigma, although the quality and age speaks for itself! This item is in the category “Collectables\Badges & Patches\Collectable Badges\Military Badges”. Extremely Rare Original Spanish American War Military Issue Straw Hat, Brought Home as a Battlefield Souvenir by a US Sailor on the U. VERY RARE original Spanish American War black straw hat. Issued during the hot weather military combat and brought home by the identified US Sailor from the USS FRANKLIN. Scans show it all. Nicely made of a straw type of material and issued that way….. Then stained black as an added protection against the sun and weather. Has a nice 5-pointed star sewn on the center of the crown…… Made of cloth, with military gilt sequins sewn on it, as shown. Nice 3/4″ wide black hat band attached around the base of the crown as shown, with nice Navy “tail in the back. Has nice 1 1/2 wide leather head band inside the crown. Inside sweat band is dry, and several cracks, but it is all there, relatively sound, and all in place. On the top of the inside crown most of an original ownership label remains, on which is written: William P. I assume that this was the Navy sailor who wore the hat since it was brought home by this US sailor. Hat is in very good. A few occasional flaking spots only. Has one small hole in the back of the brim which appears to have been put there to hang it on a nail. Bottom measures about 12″ x 12 5/8″ overall. Inside head opening measures 6 1/4″ wide x 7″ long. Crown has a gentle slope to it, and is 3 1/8 high. On the outside the brim is about 2″ wide in the back and 2 1/2″ wide on the sides and in the front. I was also told that this could have been an enemy Spanish battlefield/combat souvenir taken by this sailor, although I don’t know. Seems more likely that it belonged to the US sailor. I have never seen one of these available for sale. VERY OLD AND VERY RARE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE OWNERSHIP ID!! And this is a nice example of such a nice, RARE MUSEUM-QUALITY HAT, for a variety of display and collection objectives!! PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS!! Antique Westinghouse Brass Blade & Guard Desk Fan Early Rare Original Paint Nice. 12 Westinghouse Stationary Desk Fan 104V 133CY circa 1905-06. Restored approximately 25 years ago. Seldom seen rare 133 Cycle. 1st version of Tank Fan right after the Pancake. Larger Vent Holes, Smooth yoke, Struts attach directly to round profile, Solid ring guard center. Early switch with no threaded hole to hold fiber plate, different base design. Early collector quality fan for the Westinghouse Collector. Very rare version in a very rare cycle, (Tesla’s original cycle design). This fan has been in my possession for over 25 years. It was restored preserving the stunning original paint, if any touch up was done it was only lightly(not over done) touched up using PPG or Glasurit automotive single stage urethane. The fan is 100% original Westinghouse. The blade and guard are both original Westinghouse as is all the brass. The original blade that came on the fan when found at a flea market was actually a cast brass hub early Tank blade that had two wings sawed off. Being an impossible blade to locate, we used a stamped brass hub blade that Westinghouse quickly adopted on the early Tanks. I have not tested it lately, but it ran when first restored. I only displayed it through the years because of the 133 cycles only allowed it to run a short while at about 1/2 speed. It was only shown to a handful of collectors and has never been shown at Fan Fair, so it has largely been incognito through the years. I displayed it at home without a cord, because I considered it a nuisance on the shelf. Please ask any questions and I will be happy to answer. Out of curiosity and some request, I checked to see if the fan would run. I was unable to make it run through the switch though the switch is complete and the coil does not appear to be burned out. I bypassed the switch and was able to get it to run directly to the head wire after a push on the blade. Please see all images for a pictorial description and ask any questions.
