Very unusual and rare piece of Early American history! This tramp art frame is a great piece of folk art, with wooden hearts on each corner and splayed wooden pieces coming out from each side of the frame, each one hand carved. It is pretty deep, so it could have originally been used as a shadow box for a mourning wreath or something else. Hangs horizontally, but could be changed to hang vertically. Measurements: 17″ tall x 20″ wide x 2 deep. Inside of frame: 9.5″ x 6.5″. Condition: In as found condition. Will need a back, wire, and glass for framing. Also, missing half of one of the hearts. One of the pieces on the sides moves and it may be missing a decorative piece on the side, hard to tell. For its age, it is actually in pretty decent shape. This is a beautiful early Navajo textile. Decent condition considering the age. Vintage is always a plus. It looks to me like 4 ply weave but I’m not a professional. Measures 48″ X 73″. It has repairable damage like holes from moths and years of use but it doesn’t seem to effect the beauty. As you can see it looks good but it could use some TLC.
