What a beautiful pair of early American miniature frames. These date to the first quarter of the 19th century and are composed of a pressed brass molding attached to a wood form backing. These early miniatures are difficult to find in nice condition and this pair is quite unusual for the light moss green tint surrounding the site edge…… Never seen that before and its quite attractive. The frames have their original surface, nice wavy glass, shingle backing and a thin string hanger (was likely originally tin hanger). The pair measures 3 1/8 x 3 1/2 with a 2 3/8 x 2 7/8 rabbet. Fantastic rare, early American pair of frames for silhouettes or miniatures. Thanks from Phoenix Antique Frames. Here is a true rarity in antique lighting… A miniature 18th or early 19th century 2-candle “chandelier”… And I’m calling it a chandelier only because its designed to be hung. Overall width is 9 3/4″, height, excluding the two sections of wire for hanging, 7 3/4″ (the two wire sections add 11 1/2). The sole apology is the small age crack shown in my 7th picture and the tack someone inserted many moons ago for no apparent reason. The item “Rare miniature 18th / early 19th C 2-candle hanging chandelier, American” is in sale since Friday, April 17, 2020. This item is in the category “Antiques\Primitives”. RARE EARLY-MID 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE TREENWARE, LATHE-TURNED SPOOL. THREAD HOLDER, W/WHITE CORD. Antique early-mid 19th c American treenware. 5 ½” Height x 4 ½” Diameter (widest point/ top). There’s an old drying fracture of the maple hardwood on the top, turned edge of the lid of the early to mid 19th century antique maple treenware thread spool holder. This was not the result of a concussion due to a previous drop, but more likely the result of drying of the wood over time, since the piece is nearly 200 years in age. This is an early piece of Americana and early American utilitarian, decorative treenware and its condition is commensurate with its age and previous use. This was not a purely decorative object that was put on a shelf and admired. Rather it would have been used and often used, since textiles were produced in the home and repairs were most certainly produced in the home. This is a rather early piece of American antique treenware and it has recognizable, characteristic fine, lathe-turned detailed lines. The maple hardwood is a wood often used by cabinet makers in 18th and early 19th century America and particularly in New England, where maple was tough and durable and would have withstood repeated abuse. It remains untouched and featuring original rubbed, naturally aged surfaces and patina. It has not been dusted or oiled. It remains in absolutely the same antique condition it was originally constituted in. A remarkable early New England cultural artifact and a splendid piece of early Americana. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. The item “RARE EARLY-MID 19TH C AMERICAN ANTIQUE TREENWARE TURNED SPOOL THREAD HOLDER” is in sale since Monday, October 21, 2019. RARE EARLY-MID 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN ANTIQUE DECORATED WOODEN SPINNING TOP, W/ORIGINAL, PERIOD GREEN & RED STRIPES. New England 19th c decorated artifacts. 6″ Height x 3 ½” Width. Offered for your careful review and consideration is this incredibly rare and absolutely beautiful early to mid 19th century American, antique, hand decorated, painted wooden spinning top, with green and red hand painted stripes over yellow. The wooden top is hand carved and the central wooden top stem, which spools the cord used to pull the top and spin it, is notched to accept the cord and is painted red, with green and yellow stripes. The body of the top is painted differently than the stem, with yellow paint being the base color, instead of red and with green and red hand painted stripes. There’s what appears to be a remnant of a wound cotton cord pull string still tied and knotted to the wooden stem. The top has some minor material loss at the extreme bottom of the top, with some wood loss and now missing what would have been an inserted metal pin or nail, on which the top would have quickly spun. This loss demonstrates prior use and gives the top its honest, vintage pedigree. The top is absolutely 100% untouched and hasn’t been rinsed, oiled or cleaned. A remarkable 19th century artifact. You will spend many a moon looking for another like it. Incredibly rare and a wonderful example of early American painted wooden ware and cultural artifacts. From early New England with love. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. As mentioned previously, there’s some minor wood loss and the apparent loss of a nail or metal fastener, that would’ve been inserted into the tapered end of the top’s bottom, allowing it to spin freely on a wood floor when the string was pulled. The body is however, absent of fractures or noticeable flea-bites to its edges. There are a few minor scuffs and faint abrasions to its painted sidewalls. The top hasn’t been wiped down, washed, rinsed or oiled. It demonstrates prior use and what would have to be considered to be gentle or infrequent use, considering its overall well preserved condition. A truly remarkable, unmolested early 19th century New England artifact. The item “RARE EARLY-MID 19TH C AMERICAN ANTIQUE WOODEN SPINNING TOP, WithORIG PERIOD PAINT” is in sale since Saturday, June 8, 2019. This item is in the category “Antiques\Primitives”.
