Please find for offer a Fijian carved wood statue, dating to the first half of the 20th century. The piece depicts a stylised bust of a man with elaborate hair (see last image for reference). Figurative sculpture from Polynesia is rare to find, and this example would’ve been made for the early tourist trade. Some age related splits to the wood with the largest on the front. Some small chips/knocks in places. Small area with filler to one side of hair. Age related wear as expected. Please examine photos carefully. Item will be sent tracked and signed-for.
