VERY RARE EARLY MODEL WENTWORTH TOOTHILL Vtg Mid Century 50s 60s Sofa Bed Yellow

This is the extremely rare earlier edition of the Toothill’Wentworth sofa with copper legs instead of the usual teak legs found on the later edition. A stunning sofa which we have replaced the cushions, reupholstered and webbed with Pirelli webbing. Constructed from solid afromosia and walnut with copper piping, a walnut veneered backrest and beautiful copper legs. A great feature of the design are two built in solid walnut sidetables, supported by copper fixtures at either side of the seat cushion which slide in and out to transform into a sofa bed. Condition – the sliding mechanism on one sidetable does not move as freely as on the other which is probably down to lack of use and may loosen again over time. One table top also has a small scratch with a slight dent which has been photographed. The backrest does show some signs of wear to the edges, some surface scratches, one is more significant and has been photographed. There is a line/mark on the wood where the metal frame supports on each side of the backrest. Please note that although the sofa overall is in great condition and has had a polish and been reupholstered it does show signs of wear and tear as to be expected of a sofa approx 50 years old. Antique Very Rare and Early Spanish/Portugese Delft Maiolica Dish Hare Circa 1600 -1650 Excavated A very rare and early Spanish or Portuguese maiolica dish painted in blue decorated in the centre with floral in which a jumping hare bordered by floral together with stylisted insects – – First half 17th Century – Diameter: 7,5 inch (190mm) – Very good condition, only some little chips/usual wear and a very little hole at the border (please see pictures) no cracks, hairlines or restorations – Found in the harbour of Amsterdam, a very rare found in this very good condition – Descended from own collection. Crossbanded with herringbone inlay banding. Very fine original oak linings and locks. Handles look similar age. We are advised this is approx 300 years old and it is. 18th Century Queen Anne or Around that age. This has just come out of storageand is untouched so will clean up nice. Some handles are a little loose. One of the brass swan neck pulls has gone missing. But we may locate it. There is a little secret drawer above the kneehole that pulls out. Very Rare Telegraph Pottery Art Nouveau Large Vase/Jardiniere Circa Early 20th C. 16 cm (6.25) high. Rare Art Nouveau large vase/jardinière, probably made in the early part of the 20th Century, in the USA by Telegraph Pottery. It is not easy to identify early 20th century (or late 19th century) Art Nouveau pieces. There were many being produced, both in Europe, and in the USA, but they are all very rare now. This particular example, does have certain affinities, with many of the US schools, like Teco, Rookwood, Rumrill, Red Wing, etc. All are very collectable, and this is a superb example. This piece has a brown and green drip glaze, and gorgeous Art Nouveau styled moulded decorations. It is embossed on the base, with the “Telegraph” name, and the number #4. Very good condition, no chips or cracks, but fine crazing throughout. This rare Art Nouveau piece would make a great addition to any collection. Check out my other items.
