THIS CAN BE DESCRIBED AS HAVING A CRUCIFORM ARRANGEMENT OF MEDALLIONS IN THE IZNIK STYLE AND IS A VARIANT OF THE “ARABESQUE MEDALLION” AND THERE ARE TWO SIMILAR, BUT NOT AS NICE EXAMPLES, IN THE COMPREHENSIVE BOOK “DAM ASCUS TILES” BY ARTHUR MILLNER _ PAGE 234 & 169 WHICH IS CALLED “FLORAL STAR”. A very large example designed and carved by the hand of Albert Solon, who immigrated from England in 1912, became the Director of the Arequipa Pottery in 1912, and opened the S & S Tile Company with Frank Schemmel in 1920. Several deeply carved and glazed bowls in the same style and signed by Albert Solon are in collections and can be seen by searching Google for “Albert Solon carved bowl”.
