Early gate marked primitive rustic cast iron cauldron marked “D&M” New Brighton, PA on bottom of the pot. Nice and solid piece with no chips, breaks, or cracks. Condition and dimensions shown in photos. Displays well and is guaranteed old/original. Rare Antique Wemyss Ware Small Black & White Pig marked Wemyss – Post 1930. A Rare Genuine Wemyss Pottery Pig. This splendid pottery pig is hand decorated by Joe Nekola with sponged black on white, hand painted mark’Wemyss’ to base in black. Very Good Condition- no chips, cracks or restoration but has usual crazing to glaze typical of Wemyss and a tiny bit of glaze toss to his right ear (see photos to aid description). Joseph (Joe) Nekola was the son of Karel Nekola and joined the pottery in 1899. He spent two years in Buffalo, USA from 1910-12 before returning to the pottery for a short period. His final stint was between 1928 and 1930, when the factory closed. Joe negotiated the sale of the moulds etc. To the Bovey Tracey pottery in Devon and moved there to continue producing Wemyss Ware.

When I found this piece it was rusted and locked up, I brought it back to life with a short dip in my electrolysis tank. This helps it let go of any gunk and surface rust on the surface without affecting the surface. Please see all photos and bother that the candle receptacle is made from delicate sheet but is good condition and is NOT tin! I can always provide more photos if needed. What you see in the photos is precisely what you will get!

This rare antique Southern brown stoneware pitcher hails from the late 18th or early 19th century, making it a unique and valuable piece for collectors. With a spout to handle length of 6 inches and a height of 6-1/2 inches, it is all original. This pitcher showcases the primitive style of the Southern United States. Made of clay in a rich brown color and glazed, this pitcher is a true gem that has been listed by a family member, adding to its authenticity and historical significance. This pitcher is a family heirloom handed down through several generations. Would like for someone to have it who will appreciate it’s beauty and history. My mother told me that the pitcher was “Made on the Pottery Wheel” by either my great grandfather or 2nd greatgrandfather. The pitcher is hand thrown with extremely nice proportions. The glaze is uneven and brushstrokes can be seen on the bottom. It is thick and very heavy. According to family tradition and my genealogy research the Howse family left South Carolina after the Revolutionary War and moved to Jackson County Georgia. In 1860 the family came by covered wagon to North Alabama and settled near what is today Hanceville Alabama. They brought this pitcher with them. My mother who was born in 1910 stated they still used this as a milk pitcher when she was a child. So it was made either by Samuel Howse in South Carolina or Aaron Howse in Georgia.
