Welcome to my offer. Early ALUMINIUM made in Germany. I offer you here a rarity obiect from the period of early industrialization of the German Gründerzeit (Historism). The candlestick is depicted in the form of a winged mermaid and was made of the metal aluminum cast. The candlestick is then finished with a lacquered patina, typical of the gloomy ambience of historicism, following the taste of the time. The candlestick is in good used condition, with clear traces of use in the patina (scratches), see photos. The unique item is not marked. A truly museum piece of contemporary history. A beautiful collector’s timedocument for your Collection. At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1867, the first time products of new metal aluminum were shown, and received with great interest by the public, but the products at that time were still much more expensive than Gold, because for the process of production still a very high technical and energetic process had to be operated. Since the process of industrial production at the beginning of the 20th century became much cheaper, the prices then also lowered to the present day, so that today one does not pay much attention to the metal in everyday life, because we encounter it in everyday life constantly. This listing is for a rare antique skeleton clock. The clock is English and it dates to the early 19th century. The clock was made by Edward Scales of Manchester, England. According to “Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World” by GH Baillie, Scales was active in Manchester during the early 19th century, starting around 1800. The base is made from nice burled wood. The time only chain fusee movement does appear to be in overall good condition. But it has been in storage for quite some time. The clock could use some routine servicing and the fusee cable needs to be replaced. Glass dome is missing. 11 x 6 x 14.5 inches. Loading...X
