For all those who love the workmanship and lure of cooking on an old Griswold pan, this rare sought after piece is hard to find, especially complete! This is one of the earliest waffle irons Griswold made! It is The American! It was made in the 1880’s. I found it in our old 1800’s Vermont farmhouse kitchen. Being a lover of all things cast iron, especially Griswold I immediately put this waffle iron to use on our wood cook stove. And I have to say it makes the most delicious waffles, maybe because it brings you back to a simpler way of life when cooking was meant to be made with love and without rush. This cast iron Griswold waffle iron is in very good vintage condition. There is some age related wear and some mild minor pitting. There are also 2 old braised repairs on the base. It’s underneath and is not visible and clearly they are strong as they have withstood the test of time. And also the hundreds of waffles I have made with it over an open fire! The griddle irons are 8 in in diameter and 1 in high with 5 in long wooden handles that are black. The low base is 10 in in diameter and 1.25 in high and a 4.5 inch long ornate cast iron handle. Please note, I do not over clean any of my cast iron or antiques. The only thing I have done to this waffle iron is seasoned it yearly with olive oil.

Up for sale is a very large antique early 19th century handmade cast iron mortar and pestle. This rare example features a gorgeous silhouette with a large circular foot, is cast out of very thick iron weighing 13 pounds, has acquired a lovely patina from age. It has its original solid iron pestle, is leaded underneath, and is in great condition. The mortar measures 6 1/2 inches wide by 6 1/8 inches tall. Genuine Original Cast Iron Irish P&T Pole Mounted Post Box. Made by DERBY CASTINGS LIMITED DERBY. The firm Andrew Handyside was one of the earliest to cast post boxes. And went on to hold many GPO contracts, the company went into liquidation in 1930 and a new firm Derby Castings emerged in 1931 they cast some wall boxes and lamp boxes between 1931 and 1933 they only made a few P & T boxes then they ceased trading that makes this box very rare It has been fully refurbished i did not paint the inside as it was in good condition for its age. It has its original Hovis Chubb Lock and 1 chubb key and 2 cut keys. The original lock the bolt is longer but shorter in width very rare this type of lock as show in in photos, Tab Holder letter cage, Original enamel bi lingual place plate and a full set of original enamel day tabs with original brass holder and a new plastic place plate with a full set of Irish day tabs and 2 hoops 4no back plates 4 no dome nuts green or stainless steel to fill hole in side of box if hoops are not used It comes with a 1.9mtr long 115mm diameter steel pole for concreting in Or the pole can be shortened to 1,6mtrs with a base plate welded on to fix to a hard standing complete with all necessary security fixings bolts It also comes with a tin of touch paint. This is a very unique and early time period cast iron spittoon. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, holes, or structural rust. There may be some minor signs of wear due to age. The top is coated with an enamel coating. The rest of the piece is raw cast iron and is very heavy! This is a very nice antique piece and would be a wonderful addition to any collection.
