Here we have a rarely found game dish dating to the early 1800s. This is finely molded with the raised relief bamboo stalks decorating the base and lid. This pattern was influenced by pottery imported from China during the early 1800s. This yellow ware form is referred to as cane with only the inside of the base being glazed. This allows for the great molded detail that would not be as prominent if the surface was glazed. The game dish measures 3″ in height and 4 ¾”in width. The game dish is in mint condition with no damage or repairs and the lid has only chips on the underside that don’t detract. The underside of the lid is impressed with the patent number and the bottom of the dish has a raised letter “B”. This is a pattern very rarely found and is highly collectable.
11′ 6 long with each of 3 section measuring approx. 46 3/4 , is this very early original Charles E Wheeler bamboo fly rod. 3 sections and a wooden tube cradle, appears to be all original, rattan cigar grip, with soldered nickel plated reel seat and butt. All swivel strings guides appear intact, to go along with the spear tip ferrules, original red string wraps with original shellac and patina. Rod has a pat date Jan 10 1888 but no stamped signature that I can see? Many Wheeler rods were unsigned, but I’m fairly certain that this rod can be attributed to Wheeler with most characteristics being spot on. Antique French WOOD PEDIMENT ARCHITECTURAL Salvage WALNUT VENEER PROBABLY 19Th. This vintage French wooden Faux Bamboo wall mirror green painted. The wooden frame is carved to resemble bamboo, a design very much in vogue in the early 1900s-1920s France. The pieces have the perfect size to hang just about anywhere. Measuring approximately 20 1/2 by 171/4 at its widest (the mirror itself is 1340 by 10). One is authentically old, the reflective coating of the mirror has a few tiny black age spots and very limited surface scratching, nothing really shocking considering its advanced age (a date in the back: see close up). The other is very recent; he had to be replaced. The frame earned some marks and an attractive green color with age. This vintage mirror will just lend an instant touch of French authenticity to any room décor or bathroom with its antique feel and superb Faux Bamboo design painted.
