From a local smoke free house is this Rare early antique mourning pin or brooch. It is made of 18K yellow gold, contains woven hair with a monogram center under glass, and is engraved on the back, F. It is not dated but is similar to other early examples we found dating from the later 1700’s to the early 1800’s. The pin measures about 1 1/4 inches high and about 1 inches wide. The pin was tested to be at least 18K and weighs about 8.72 grams or 5.6 pennyweight. It is in excellent condition. See photos as they are part of the description. FINE QUALITY RARE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY CHINESE CARVED SLIDING TOP TANGRAM PUZZLE BOX WITH PUZZLES. This is a very Rare Breath Taking. Late 18th early 19th Century Chinese Tangram Carved Puzzle Box with Puzzles, i would estimate a date of circa 1800. Making this rare puzzle box over 200 years old. This rare puzzle box has a sliding lid carved with five figures and pagodas with flowering shrubs, some figures are. Walking across the landscape with a gentleman inside a pagoda waiting for them, all this is in a `bamboo` frame. To the other side of this amazing Tangram Box you will see a beautifully carved Lotus flower surrounded by wonderful foliage, There are carved pagoda’s and shurbs around the sides of the box, on sliding the top off you will see this still retains all of the original beautifully carved Tangram puzzles pieces , six in total, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy 18th Century Gentleman many years ago when times were so very different, if this box could talk i can just imagine what fascinating stories it could tell, this Tangram Puzzle box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. The condition is nice with no actual damage to the carving, this is breath taking , this is such a rare object. 6 cm width by 6 cm depth. A Good, Early 19th Century English Pearlware Plate with Pratt style Decoration. The surface with a very slightly textured, satin glaze. The rim with a shaped and moulded’shell’ design and glazed in green. The central field with a brush-painted and sponged design of a pheasant within a fruiting vine. 10 inches in diameter. Some wear, nibbling and chipping to the shaped rim in places. Please ask for extra photos if necessary. No cracks, breaks or restoration. FINE QUALITY RARE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY CHINESE CARVED SLIDING TOP TANGRAM PUZZLE BOX WITH PUZZLES. This is a very Rare Breath Taking. To the other side of this amazing Tangram Box you will see another carved rural scene with three figures and pagodas with flowering shrubs, There are carved dragons around three sides of the box and the forth side has the most beautiful folaige, on sliding the top off you will see this still retains some of the beautifully carved Tangram puzzles pieces, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy 18th Century Gentleman many years ago when times were so very different, if this box could talk i can just imagine what fascinating stories it could tell, this Tangram Puzzle box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. The condition is nice with no actual damage to the carving, with just a couple of chips to the inside of the slide top and one puzzle piece’s seems firm inside, i wont try to remove it, i will leave that for the new owners to do, this is breath taking , this is such a rare object. Antique Ceylonese silver and copper betel nut lime box or KILLOTAYA. Of flattened round form with attached chain this was made to carry lime or chunam for mixing with sliced Areca nut for betel chewing. Hinged like a pocket watch. Superb quality and detail with silver hinges, surrounds and chain with silver inlaid copper to front and back. Dating from late 18th century and missing its little silver spike or spoon on end of chain. (See similar example The Clive Collection at Powis Castle). Most killotayas were made of brass or copper. This example with fine silver mounts was probably a special commission from a wealthy Kandy dignitary. Size – 4 cms. Weight – 22 gms. For sale is a very rare & stunning pair of antique oil paintings that are on linen/canvas and were expertly painted by an unsigned artist. High gloss varnish finish. Overall decent condition with expected crazing, occasional holes and paint loss. The frames were recently re-glued and the areas with missing paint touched up. These are definitely not museum pieces. But they are nevertheless beautiful and pleasant. Each measure approximately 27 inches wide by 32 1/4 inches tall by 1 1/2 inches deep. Century circa 1810 solid bronze Italian Grand tour sculptures of winged Sphinxes. There are multiple high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. This pair are magnificent, they are and original pair and have been together for the best part of 200 years, they are free from damage, everything is present and correct. One of the bases has been restored and a new piece of timber applied. Height:- 8.9cm.
