Hello and welcome to. Depicted in vivid enamel colors. If you think differently or have something else to add to improve my description I would be very happy to hear from you. It has 26 sticks in total. As observed one stick is slightly bent, deformated. And is about to break at the bottom. Side is already broken shown with the white little circle in photo #8 and will have to be welded. Which I did not dare to fix and there are some tiny areas of enamel loss and filigree damage, but you really need to look very carefully to identify the latest. When you unfold the piece you get “blank” areas and you need to manually assist it to get it properly open and same when you fold it back meaning that the system needs some repair or adjustment but nothing is missing. Please see photo #8 and #12 where I marked with a. Circle where you can appreciate the stick which is slightly deformated and about to detach and the little white circle in photo #8 showing the little breakage. The ribbon is not original. The total weight of the piece is 145 grams according to my scale. The item is offered original as is as found without cleaning. Please check out my. 7 1/2″ (19cm) is the height and 13″ (33cm) approximately is the aperture lenght when fully opened/extended. The total weight of the piece is 145 grams. Please look at the 2 dollars note (not included) to compare and get an idea of the size of the item offered. Condition is not the best as observed. One stick is slightly bent, deformated. And is about to detach at the bottom the left. Side is already broken shown with the white little circle and will have to be welded. Since these are very old items, please kindly expect some scratches, minimal deformations, minimal enamel loss, minimal filigree damage and other details normal for antique pieces. Please judge by the photos. You get what you see in the pics. Ask me if you need more photos. Please always judge the condition according to the pictures. Real colors may be slightly different from what you can observe due to amateur illumination procedures when taking the pictures. If you require an additional photo from any particular area please ask. We are here to help and your 100% satisfaction is our main concern. We only deal with Real Original merchandise to the best of our knowledge. Everything you need to know should be observable in the detailed pictures. Please keep an eye in my store. Rare Chinese short sword called paidao China, 2nd half 19th early 20th
Rare Chinese short sword called paidao – China, 2nd half 19th early 20th. Traditionaly this sword was used in combination with a round shield made of rattan. The whole shape and material used make me think it is related to the Southern China, especially the North of Tonkin area. Heavy single edged blade, very thick at the forte. The grip is made of wood. Strong and solid, no movement. The item “Rare Chinese short sword called paidao China, 2nd half 19th early 20th” is in sale since Wednesday, December 5, 2018. RARE PAIR OF EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH ENAMEL PORTRAIT BUTTONS, ROSINA & BELVILLE, IN LEATHER PRESENTATION CASE. PLUS RARE 18TH CENTURY FRENCH FOIL AND SILK , REVERSE PAINTED GLASS BUTTON. HELLO , THIS LISTING IS FOR A RARE PAIR OF EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH ENAMEL BUTTONS, ROSINA & BELVILLE, IN LATER FRENCH VICTORIAN LEATHER PRESENTATION CASE. THIS WONDERFUL PAIR OF BUTTONS ARE MADE TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THE MAIN CHARACTERS ROSINA AND BELVILLE IN THE 1782 COMIC OPERA BY WILLIAM SHIELD. MOST LIKELY MADE FOR THE TOURIST TRADE ON THE PALAIS ROYAL IN PARIS, FRANCE. ITS VERY RARE TO FIND THESE BUTTONS STILL AS A PAIR, OR NOT CONVERTED INTO BROOCHES BECAUSE OF THEIR LARGE SIZE. THEY COME FROM A LARGE COLLECTION OWNED BY MY GREAT, GREAT AUNT, AND SHE WAS A VERY SERIOUS COLLECTOR IN THE 1930’S & 40’S. SHE ONLY COLLECTED THE MOST RARE AND UNUSUAL EXAMPLES FOR HER COLLECTION. IT WAS LOT # 412. AND READS: PAIR FRENCH ENAMELED BUTTONS EARLY XIX CENTURY. OVAL SHAPE WITH PAINTED PORTRAIT INSCRIBED ” ROSINA AND BELVILLE”. THE PORTRAITS ARE CHARMING, WITH AN ALMOST FOLK ART QUALITY TO THEM. THEY COME HOUSED IN THIS LOVELY FRENCH VICTORIAN ERA LEATHER PRESENTATION CASE, THAT MY GREAT AUNT HAD CUSTOM FITTED JUST TO DISPLAY THEM. THE TOP INSIDE BACK IS ORIGINAL FROM THE 1860’S, THE FITTED BOTTOM MOST LIKELY DONE IN THE 1940’S. THEY ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH JUST THE NORMAL WEAR FROM AGE. THERE IS THE EXPECTED LIGHT CRAZING TO THE ENAMEL, AND THE BRASS FRAMES TARNISHED FROM AGE. THERE ARE CRIMPS TO THE BRASS FRAMES, AS SEEN IN THE PHOTOS, BUT THIS IS NOT DAMAGE, JUST WHAT NATURALLY OCCURS WHEN THE FRAMES ARE FITTED AROUND THE BUTTON BACKS. THE BACKS OF THE BUTTONS HAVE THE EXPECTED AGE RELATED DISCOLORATION AS SEEN IN THE PHOTO. THEY ARE JUST OVER 2 INCHES HIGH X 1 1 / 2 INCHES WIDE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PARKE BERNET CATALOG PICTURED IS JUST TO SUBSTANCIATE PROVENANCE AND IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE SALE. JUST THE CUT OUT LISTING FOR THE BUTTONS. A WONDERFUL PAIR OF MUSEUM QUALITY BUTTONS. ALSO INCLUDED WITH THIS SALE AS A BONUS ITEM, IS THIS RARE 18TH CENTURY, CIRCA 1760 – 80, FRENCH REVERSE PAINTED GLASS BUTTON. THIS BUTTON IS VERY COMPLEX IN THAT IT HAS SEVERAL DIFFERENT LAYERS THAT MAKE IT UP. THE FIRST LAYER IS EMBOSSED SILVER FOIL, THE NEXT LAYER IS DELICATELY CUT OUT BLUE SILK THAT ALMOST RESEMBLES LITTLE CROSSES, AND THEN FINALLY A REVERSE PAINTED GLASS SCENE THAT SUGGESTS THAT IT MY BE A MOURNING BUTTON FROM THE SUBJECT MATTER. IT APPEARS TO BE A WEEPING WILLOW TREE, NEAR A FENCE, THAT MAY BE A GRAVE SITE OR MEMORIAL OF SOME KIND. THERE ARE ALSO TINY GOLD LEAF ROSETTES REVERSE PAINTED ON THE GLASS, MOST OF WHICH HAVE DISCOLORED OVER TIME. THE BUTTON IS IN OVERALL VERY GOOD CONDITION, THE GLASS HAS NO CHIPS OR CRACKS, BUT THERE IS SOME LOSE TO THE REVERSE PAINTED SCENE. SOME OF THE PAINT HAS FLAKED AWAY. ITS SIZE IS 1 3 / 8 INCHES IN DIAMETER, IT HAS A BRASS PLATED COPPER RIM, AND HAS A STEEL BACK. THIS IS A BONUS TO THE SALE ONLY, AND NOT CONSIDERED IN THE SALE PRICE AT ALL. SO THE CONDITION IS AS IS. ANOTHER FABULOUS AND RARE BUTTON FOR YOUR COLLECTION. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING! My personal standards are high , so I strive to research , describe and picture all items in my auctions as accurately as possible. Most items are vintage or antique and therefore normal ware from age and use is to be expected. Antique Rare Early 19th C. Ovoid Stoneware Jug Stunning Blue Floral Slip C 1820s
Rare and very beautiful ovoid form 2 gallon salt glazed jug with a stunning floral slip decoration that was hand-painted. In near perfect condition, with no cracks, hairlines, and only one very tiny thin chip on the rim and another on the underside edge (see pics). Stunning and very hard to find; the floral slip in blue is beautiful. The hand-painted method of slip application and the ovoid form, with no signature, and the wonderful early deep and dark patina all add up to this being made around and in the 1820s. Please also note what are brown spots under the glaze are just that, and are known as flashings, and came from other pots stacked in the kiln above it because of flashing during the firing process, either from pots stacked above this one or from the top of the kiln itself. These are amazing and add to the charm and character of the jug. Could this be a Southern piece? Hard to tell definitively, but a wonderful jug. 14.5 inches tall. About 10.5 inches in diameter. Opening on top is about 1 1/8 inches diameter. Weight is about 8 pounds not counting packing materials. It’s heavy and large so I won’t be too far off. The item “Antique Rare Early 19th C. Rare Early 19th Century Woolwork Sampler of a Seated Cat Dated 1831
Images of cats seem to be rarer than those of dogs. This is especially true in early needlework. In this large piece of woolwork, the stitcher created a picture of her striped cat sitting on a red, bun-footed footstool. The green ground around the cat harmonizes well with the elaborate rope-like border stitched in shades of rust, brown, cream and gray. There are two large motifs in leaf shape in the right and left corners of the composition. The cat itself is stitched in finer wool yarn than the background and the border. Part of its face and chest were stitched in a silky-finished floss. The stitcher used a heavy silk floss for her name and date: H. This places this fabulous piece of needlework in the era prior to those that became popular after Victoria took the British throne. It is housed in its original wood and gesso painted frame with a gilded slip and old, bubbled glass. The condition of the woolwork is excellent. There are no holes or staining. The color retention is phenomenal given the age of this embroidery. This must have been a cherished family piece that was kept in a room with few windows that kept the wool from fading. It appears to have been backed with a board at some time that helped keep the needlework free of dust and insects. The attractive frame is in excellent condition as well. I have had it professionally restored to bring it back to its former glory. This is an extraordinary and striking piece of early needlework, and as such, deserves a special place in ones collection. It measures 21-1/2 inches wide and 20-1/2 inches high, including the frame. Personal and cashiers checks also accepted. Expertise in 18th and 19th Century Needlework, British Paintings, and 19th Century Decorative Arts with over 35 Years Experience.
