Very Rare Spectacular Early 19th Century Automaton Fountain Clock Gilt Bronze
For sale is a most beautiful and rare French Automaton Clock that I have had in my collection for quite some time. It is one of my favorite items. This is a beautiful clock in completely original condition. It is a silk thread 8 day movement which keeps excellent time. The face of this clock is in remarkable condition, no signs of rubbing or wear. The hands are original. The basin where the glass rod spins to simulate water coming from a lions head, could use a cleaning to brighten the gilding as would the feet and Roman urn on top. The automaton runs well but I think it would benefit from a total service to make it run down to the end of the spring. It should run for a couple of hours, but this gets sluggish after a 1 hour run. The front of this clock is really beautiful with Bah Relief foliates, very well executed and finely detailed. The clock measures 15 inches tall, 7.5 wide and 5 inches deep. The clock comes with 2 period keys, one for the clock and one for the automaton. It chimes on a very sonorous bell at the hour and half hour. Thank you for taking the time to view my sale. The item “Very Rare Spectacular Early 19th Century Automaton Fountain Clock Gilt Bronze” is in sale since Monday, April 1, 2019. This item is in the category “Antiques\Decorative Arts\Clocks”. Antique Early 19th Century Beatrice D'Este Oil Portrait Rare Family Crescent
Original circa 1800’s, Baked Ceramic, with a very highly detailed Oil painting of Beatrice D’Este. At this time the artist is unknown. Backside of ceramic has original lines from the antique firing process used to form the one piece mold. This piece is one solid baked mold, with the family crest built in. The painting itself is highly detailed, and does have some crazing. There are a couple of chips that could use repair. The piece is approx. 15.25″ tall, and 9.25″ wide. It has the original hardware hanger. This is a must have for any collector. This beautiful painting was found some years back at an estate sale in Virginia. We can’t remember much about the elderly woman who lived there, but that she was French, and moved to the US in the 1940’s after WW2. Please see all pictures, any questions feel free to ask. A rare early 19th century, French Antique snuff or tobacco box.
