Very Rare Antique Toy P. F. Volland Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls Circa Early 1920’s

VOLLAND – RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY DOLLS, CIRCA 1920 – 1926 (VERY RARE). Wonderful and so Very Hard to find! Here we have both Raggedy Ann and her Brother Raggedy Andy. Both are very early versions, produced by the P. They are in exceptional condition, both with whimsical smiles. Striped red and white sock legs. And wearing their original clothes. Raggedy Ann still has the blush on her cheeks, and a cardboard heart (found only in the early Raggedy Ann dolls). Raggedy Ann measures about 15″ tall, and Andy is about 16″ tall. While researching the twosome, I found this lovely HISTORY OF RAGGEDY ANNE online. Raggedy Ann was created by the talented author and illustrator Johnny Gruelle. She began as a family rag; an old toy, faded and worn, tossed into an attic. And there, the legend goes, a little girl named Marcella found her one wet and rainy day. Her father Johnny Gruelle, saw infinite possibilities in that old plaything, so he repaired her and gave her a name. With her shoe-button eyes and winsome smile, Raggedy Ann soon became the beloved playmate of Gruelle’s young daughter, Marcella. When Marcella Gruelle fell ill and died in her early teens, Johnny was devastated. But knowing how much his daughter had adored Raggedy Ann, he began writing the stories that were eventually published. Gruelle soon gave Raggedy Ann a brother named Andy, and through the years the two floppy rag dolls acquired many other wonderful story book friends – all inhabitants of a very special world, where dolls come alive and enjoy magical adventures when no mortals are present. In beautiful all original costume,, Italian circa 1920s, she as a pressed hand painted face with painted brown side-glancing eyes, lashes and single stroke brows, shaded mouth, nostrils and black hair, swivel head and jointed at shoulders and hips, She has individually stitched toes with a hard stuff body she is a heavy little girl. She is in lovely all original condition with no holes or any fading to her outfit her felt shoes showing some very little wear, has very slight dust to nose see all pictures i can see no holes. A VERY RARE 1920s OLD ORIGINAL EARLY HOTEL”VACANCY” REVERSE GLASS SIGN. An exception example of a genuine 1920s reverse glass, scalloped edge, metal framed, silver lettering sign and would of been hung in a higher end hotel or boarding house when appropriate. The sign measures 12 3/4” x 4 1/8” and in exceptionally excellent condition for its age. You really dont find them in nicer condition of this scarce early style original. From what i have seen over the internet this item has all the original pieces including the middle table, the starting flagpole and all nine horses, all original paintwork too. Amazing antique madame Alexander original with tag Alice in wonderland set of five dolls amazing. Here we have Alice in rare pink dress instead of the blue much scarcer her condition is lovely with patina as she is cloth and almost 1 0 years old , she is all original her eye lashes are beautiful she measures 20 inches tall the mad hatter is awesome made of cloth and wool felt he has incredible detail glass eyes paper square on hat that has a price in pounds I believe the character always depicted with the paper square , even has a matching hanky in pocket that matches bow tie. He measures about 20 inches to top of hat. The March hare is all wool felt with glass two tone eyes beautiful great detail he is 12 inches top of head and 15 inches to top of ears. The queen is small? 8 inches tall all cloth with printed type face amazing detail she has mohair hair. The Dodo bird measures almost 12 inches tall being made us out with three tone glass eyes has a bamboo cane amazing construction wire felt poseable tail suede face with embroidered features fantastic doll oil cloth bill , this set of antique dolls I have never seen might be one of a kind mightve been used as a shop display? Very limited , dont miss out on this amazing set it wont come by again good luck. Mariano Fortuny unnamed pattern from the early 1920s with a large pattern of scrolling leaves, crowns and flowers in a large ogival pattern. Unusual coloring for which Fortuny is known of a ground of deep green with pinkish parchment overlay with matching border. This piece is unsigned. This piece is made up of three widths and fully lined with pocket on the backside at the top for hanging with a rod. Excellent conditions on the front with various spots on the backside lining that do not go through to the front.
