VERY RARE ANTIQUE EARLY 1800s MATCHED PAIR OF LIONS FOLK ART YELLOW WARE

Here we have an extremely rare pair of lions not shown in any of the books on yellow ware. This pair of recumbent lions on oval bases with a ridged band around the base are nicely molded and have a folk art appeal. This is a unique form produced by only a single potter. Measuring 6 ½” in length by 4 ¼” in height the lions are thickly potted on hollow bases. The lions are in excellent condition with only minor flakes on the base that don’t detract or take away from these magnificent animals. For sale is a rare (Gold Georgian Halley’s Comet brooch). This gorgeous brooch has a large faceted Georgian mine cut paste stone, and picks up the most gorgeous light reflections, In some light conditions it takes on a really nice frozen look, just like a real comet. The brooch is not hallmarked, which is not uncommon for the era, but fully tests as gold. The brooch also has a tiny (Comet Man) sat on the tail of Comet. This rare brooch is one of the nicest I have seen before, It is also possible for the brooch to be worn as a pendant. Antique comet brooches are highly collectable, and even rarer to find with such a large stone. The little comet man makes it just that bit more unusual. Up for sale is an extremely rare antique solid cast iron figural doorstop made the second half of the 19th century. The stop is in the form of an armed Scottish soldier standing on a platform base with his hand propped on the rock background. It’s made of very thick iron, is extremely heavy, and has acquired a lovely patina from age. The casting is an exceedingly rare form. Antique Flight Barr & Barr tea cup peach ground gold gilt Rare early 1800’s

Rare find from estate sale! This is a beautiful porcelain teacup and saucer made by Flight, Barr & Barr between 1813 and 1840 – but most probably circa 1815, which was the Regency era. Peach ground gold gilt leaf pattern. This peach ground color is rare as it was very difficult to produce; if the kiln temperature was only slightly too high or too low, the color would come out an ugly brown and the items would have to be thrown away. Given that kilns were fired on coal fires, you can imagine how hard it was to achieve this beautiful color and it would only have been done for the most exclusive sets. The pinched handle is typical for Flight and Barr. Meaning free from cracks chips repairs or crazing. No signs of use for example (utensil marks, scuffs, stains, gold loss or pattern wear). Which leads me to believe this set was for display only as part of a collection. Referenced in Geoffrey A.
