Rare 18th Century Early Meissen Antique German Porcelain Dove Pigeon Tureen

Rare 18th Century Early Meissen Antique German Porcelain Dove Pigeon Tureen

Rare 18th Century Early Meissen Antique German Porcelain Dove Pigeon Tureen
RARE 18TH CENTURY EARLY MEISSEN ANTIQUE GERMAN PORCELAIN DOVE PIGEON TUREEN. EXCEPTIONALLY FINE AND RARE EARLY MEISSEN LIDDED SAUCE TUREEN. Presenting a magnificent 18th Century soft paste porcelain tureen and cover naturalistically modelled into the of a nesting dove / pigeon. This exceptional example was produced by the quality German makers, Meissen, circa mid to late 1700s. The beautifully modelled dove is seated upon a basket moulded base with applied shredded clay foliage trimming the top of the nest. This piece is wonderfully finished in naturalistic glazes. This piece is presented in very good antique condition with some exceptionally minor losses to the shredded clay foliage noticeable only on extremely close examination but mentioned for complete accuracy. There appears to be a minor old repair to one side of the birds tail which has been professionally done and incredibly hard to spot. We had to take a magnifyer to the piece and even then it was hard to detect. There is a minuscule fleabite sized nibble to the top of the crest upon the birds head and the tiniest rough spot to the tip of the birds beak. There is some internal staining which we have not attempted to bleach out or remove in any way and should be able to be lessened in the new owners preferred manner. Light overall surface crazing mentioned for accuracy. This authentic antique example has survived exceptionally well and presents spectacularly. The unglazed base is beautifully marked with Meissen’s brushed blue crossed swords. This impressive piece stands approx 120mms tall, measures 195mms in length and 78mms in width. Early Meissen examples such as this fine figural tureen are highly desirable and feature in top Museum collections. This stunning piece would make an outstanding addition to any early Meissen, quality antique porcelain or figural tureen collection! Rare Early antique bow rocking horse from Scottish Castle with provenance
Rare large Antique Rocking Horse on Bow Rocker with Scottish Castle provenance… Circa 1830 – 1860. This beautiful large antique bow rocking horse who previously resided in one of Scotlands well known castles & comes with genuine provenance, is now looking for a loving appreciative home. Refurbished many years ago whilst still resident at Cassilli House Castle in Scotland where the Kennedy family moved to from their previous residence’Culzean Castle’ which they had handed to the Scottish national trust in 1946, Reckless underwent a more recent restoration a few years ago by Jan Rusling to include conservation of his original bow & replacement ears. He was repainted to a more authentic pattern of his period & given a beautiful horsehair mane & tail. His old saddlery & components that he came with from Cassilli house have been kept safe and will come with him to his new owner, as is all part of his history. Being the very old horse that he is (approx Circa 1830 – 1860) his bow rocks with a wobble and he has age related / wood movement cracks including around where his legs meet his body hence he has some areas of paint loss. This is all part & parcel of how wood reacts to its environment & also in reckless’s case his age. This has not been an issue to his appreciative collector as he is considered retired and has been appreciated purely as an interior piece of beauty, uniqueness & British history. His new owner will need to be understanding & appreciate that this is his nature. If you want absolute perfection he is not for you! He stands approx 47/48 high his bow length will be added. Collection is presently from Devon until the 21st September, thereafter collection will be from Sussex. Sensible offers will be considered.. Thankyou for your interest. Rare Early 17thC Antique Adam and Eve Cartapesta Panel Carved Wood Panel
A wonderful and extremely rare relief panel made from “cartapesta” and depicting Adam & Eve. Cartapesta is a material that is composed mainly of moulded vegetable fibres and was made to imitate carved wooden panels but at a fraction of the cost. Antique objects or panels made from this material are very difficult to find. Cartapesta can be a fragile material, which is sensitive to variations in humidity and temperature, so finding one from this period is extremely rare. Adam & Eve are depicted near the tree of knowledge in the garden of Eden, bearing its fruits and around which the serpent is entwined. On a branch a bird is perched. In its original polychrome. The panel is presented in a frame. The black inner frame/slip dates to the 17th century, and has been fixed within a later 19thC Biedermeier frame. Condition – as per images. Surface wear and craqueleur to the surface commensurate with age. Dimensions : With frame 50cm x 40cm/ Without frame 32cm x 22cm. LAPADA is the UKs largest trade association for professional art & antiques dealers (representing approximately 500 UK dealer members).
