Rare Small Early 20th Century Air Ministry Military Safe. Not a lot of these around and this one survives in splendid order with lovely wear to the original green paintwork and shocking red interior. The Air Ministry stamp sits proudly to the front of the little safe and that rather attractive cast handle is mimicked on the top, so you are able to carry it if you are feeling strong. The tone of the toile has remained quite saturated in places and it has faded unevenly with time Gorgeous little cherubs!! This textile is hand stitched on all 4 edges and it’s backed in a very finely woven linen and cotton blend. There is one lovely hand woven hemp cord at the top where this textile once hung from a bed There is a very light cotton batting between the layers. It’s lightly quilted with a lovely diamond quilting design. A beautiful , beautiful toile! (please see my other textiles for more matching pieces to the set) (textile 26B). MEASUREMENTS : The wonderful antique toile measures : 21 inches wide by 92 inches long. CONDITION: This textile is in as found, unwashed condition with storage dust. From a local smoke free house is this Rare early antique mourning pin or brooch. It is made of 18K yellow gold, contains woven hair with a monogram center under glass, and is engraved on the back, F. It is not dated but is similar to other early examples we found dating from the later 1700’s to the early 1800’s. The pin measures about 1 1/4 inches high and about 1 inches wide. The pin was tested to be at least 18K and weighs about 8.72 grams or 5.6 pennyweight. It is in excellent condition. See photos as they are part of the description. For sale is a fine and large and recording galvanometer by the noted maker Negretti & Zambra early 20. Comprising a galvanometer mechanism, recording drum and separate clockwork movement, all mounted on a heavy black marble slab. The unit is housed in a glazed mahogany case with lacquered brass fittings. The unit was used in combination with a separate sensor (not present) to record temperature (a pyrometer) and the brass top plate over the clockwork movement housing is inscribed Electrical Recording Pyrometer No. 1037A, 0 to 75 degrees F. Approximate dimensions of the case are 13.5 by 14 by 11.5 inches (34 by 36 by 29 cm) and weight is around 17 kilos. Overall condition is very good, with original lacquer to the brass parts and the clockwork mechanism in working order. However, please note that the galvanometer suspension wire is detached, wires connecting the movement to the outer mahogany case are disconnected and the wooden sides of the case with some shrinkage cracks (please refer to photos). Nevertheless, it is a handsome instrument that displays well. He comments in the catalogue description The quality of this instrument is outstanding, I love it.
