Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-Enquiries-07510 503344. A little bit about us. We are a husband and wife team, and have spent many years developing our knowledge as collectors of fine antiques. Along the way we have restored many period properties, and have enjoyed furnishing them in our favourite ” English Country House Style” and because of our passion for anything old & beautiful, and appreciation of real quality and craftsmanship, which sadly today`s furniture generally does not offer, we decided to turn a much loved hobby / obsession! Into a business and pass our beautiful finds onto other people to enjoy. With our endless “treasure hunts” for the original and authentic, we offer a diverse selection of antique furniture and quality decorative items, ranging from the 17th century to the 20th century in all price ranges, making it possible for everyone to own a little piece of history, and true craftsmanship. We have been collectors for over 30 years and have been successfully trading for 15 of those years. We regularly work with interior designers and fellow dealers. We are happy to source any particular items you may be looking for. Our knowledge and expertise allows us to source many varied and high quality items. Our showrooms are within our beautiful. Grade I listed Medieval Manor House in the pretty village of Mersham in Kent. A fine and rare early 18th century walnut writing cabinet secretaire. Wonderful use of beautifully patinated burr and highly figured walnut on this very handsome cabinet. Having a moulded cornice over two raised and fielded panelled doors, framed by cross and feather-banding, with original working lock and key, which open to reveal an abundance of storage drawers and shelves within. To the back are 10 solid oak drawers, with original brass handles, fronted by 2 sliding shelves, which can be adjusted to suit size or completely removed. These are over a ledge with a further six larger drawers, also oak lined and having the most glorious burr-walnut fronts with feather banding and retaining the original brass handles. The secretaire drawer section fits the same key that fits the cabinet section, which pulls out and opens to reveal a quality fitted interior, with an arrangement of 5 figured walnut fronted drawers. With original brass handles, and are oak lined. With 10 pigeon holes above. The writing surface is a green, gold-tooled leather, in very good condition. This is over a chest of three long oak lined drawers. Having double half-rounded drawer dividers and matching feather banding to the drawers as above. Possibly would have originally had brass carrying handles to each side, top and bottom as there are marks to indicate this. A stunning beautifully crafted, high quality item, still very relevant for modern day use. Lovely, rich even colour and glowing warm patina. Standing on bracket feet, with later added metal castors. The top section can be removed from the base section. In excellent antique condition. Expected signs of age. Very solid sturdy and strong. The dimensions are taken at highest, widest and deepest points. Viewings are available at our showroom in Kent. Collection in person is very welcome, we are happy to help with loading. Antique Dulcitone. Early Celeste Type Keyboard. Rare 3 1/2 Octave Piano
This item is collection from Bow, London only. Early Celeste Type Keyboard. Rare 3 1/2 Octave Piano. Please note that this instrument is in need of some repair. Some of the notes stick and as you can see in the photos some of the springs have been replaced with elastic. The old springs and the elastic aren’t ideal and would need some upgrade. The wood on the top isn’t in perfect condition either but that is purely aesthetic. Having said all of that, this is a beautiful sounding instrument, the metal bars are in tune and once fully working would be a great addition. Any questions please ask. The item “Antique Dulcitone. Very Good Antique Tavern Clock. Rare 2 Train/ Striking. Flame Mahogany. Early 19c
Very Good Antique Tavern Clock. Rare 2 Train/ Striking. Quite a rare clock, similar in principle to an antique longcase clock but designed to attach to a wall. You see more of these in single train (non-striking) format but the two train ones are rarer. A beautiful piece and very impressive you can get an idea of the size compared to some of my other clocks in the pictures. 14 round dial, the dome-topped case measuring 40 high by 18 maximum width. Actually more practical than a longcase clock in that it can be mounted according to ceiling height. Excellent quality case with flame mahogany figuring to the front. No name on the dial but falseplate stamped Finnemore, Birmingham which dates it to the first half of the 1800s. The movement is similar to typical 8-day longcase movements of the period but with different gearing because of the shorter weight-fall. The smaller line barrels can be seen in the pictures. Original steel hands in typical early 19. The clock has been serviced and is fully working. Complete with weights, pendulum, winder and trunk door key (working lock). The item “Very Good Antique Tavern Clock. Rare 2 Train/ Striking. Flame Mahogany. Early 19c” is in sale since Sunday, March 1, 2020. This item is in the category “Antiques\Antique Clocks\Wall Clocks\Pre-1900″. The seller is “georgella123″ and is located in Yeovil. This item can’t be shipped, the buyer must pick up the item.
