VERY RARE, ANTIQUE FRENCH RING. NOT HALLMARKED BUT TESTED IN RANGE OF 10 CT GOLD, MAYBE HIGHER. ABSOLUTELY SCARCE AND BEAUTIFUL EARLY LIMOGES FROM LATE 18TH CENTURY, CA. Famous all over the world for its impeccable porcelain, Limoges is the name of a city in France, the production of which began in 1770. Classic patterns, ornaments and paintings in the Renaissance style are the hallmark of truly royal luxury. Brooches, earrings and pendants are one of the types of porcelain products produced in the city of Limoges. Set with a portrait of Marianne – the allegorical personification of the Republic of France. Marianne is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap which represents liberty, equality and fraternity. She is rendered in the classical style, with her cap and garb highlighted in gilding and stands before a lapis ground. The porcelain panel, unsigned as early Limoges is bezel set upon a raised basket of yellow gold, which meets a split shank. UK SIZE N 1/2. 7.54 GRAMS WEIGHT.
