Rare EARLY Antique SHELL ART Seashell Encrusted Vase Folk Art Mosaic Primitive
Exquisite example of early American shell art. The vase is a turned red clay with a white slip covering. Shells are applied all over the surface creating a mosaic pattern of flowers and geometric shapes. There are red/orange glass beads in the center of the flowers. Around 10.75 inches tall and quite heavy. Overall it is in good condition. There are likely a few of the smaller shells that have chipped over the years but you have to hunt to find them. The item “Rare EARLY Antique SHELL ART Seashell Encrusted Vase Folk Art Mosaic Primitive” is in sale since Friday, September 13, 2019. ANTIQUE CHINESE “QIANLONG NIAN ZHI” ERA PIECES ARE HIGHLY COLLECTED AS THEY WERE COMMISSIONED BY THE COURT. THERE IS A HIGH INTEREST IN THIS ERA AS MUCH ABOUT THIS TIME PERIOD AND IT’S PIECES ARE STILL BEING FOUND OUT TO THIS DAY. AND MAY VERY WELL BE A IMPERIAL WORKSHOP MADE VASE AS THE WORK MATCHES TOP CRAFTSMAN’S WORK WITH LAYERS OF ART EVIDENT. THE TONING OF THE BRONZE IS OF FLASHY STYLE GREAT TIME AND CARE WERE PUT INTO THE PRODUCTION OF THIS WORK. AND WITH IT’S PROVENCE COMING FROM A BEIJING ANTIQUE SHOP MANY YEARS AGO IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE AS TO HOW WE WERE ABLE TO RETRIEVE SUCH A RARITY. GOTHEBORG MENTIONS THE 4 CHARACTER MARK IN THE “QIANLONG” ERA AND WHEN USED MENT OF IMPERIAL NATURE OR GREAT IMPORTANCE MOST IF NOT ALL OF THE TIME. I INDEED DID DO MORE RESEARCH AND FOUND A SIMILAR MARK THAT DATES MUCH EARLIER THAN EARLY REPUBLIC. RASIED EXTERIOR ON OLDER CHINESE PIECES ARE VERY HIGH IN VALUE AND IMPORTANT. THIS IS DUE TO THE PIECE MOST LIKELY BEING IMPERIAL WORKSHOP MADE GOTHEBORG MENTIONS THIS ALSO. I WOULD LIKE TO STATE THAT THIS PIECE IS ONE OF THE TWO ERA’S BOTH BEING HIGHLY COLLECTED WE JUST ARE NOT SURE WHICH ONE AS BOTH HAVE SIMILAR MARKS. WE ASK THAT YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH ALSO AS IT IS WELL DESERVED FOR SUCH A PIECE. THE SIZE & AMOUNT OF ARTISTRY, THE RAISED FLORAL DEPICTIONS ALL POINT TO IMPERIAL WORKSHOP DOING. THE NECK IS VERY UNIQUE AND IS CARVED IN A WAY TO EXPLOIT A ROYAL ANCIENT TECHNIQUE VERY SURREAL. LOOKING AT THE TOP PHOTO IS DEPICTED SCRAPING ECT TO FORM OR SMOOTHEN THE TEXTURE. THE BOTTOM MARK READS BASICALLY MADE IN QIANLONG OF QING DYNASTY BUT THERE IS A UNIQUE ADDITIVE SEEMINGLY. THE TOP LEFT CHARACTER ACTUALLY BRINGS “QIANLONG NIAN ZHI” TENTATIVE DATE EARLY REPUBLIC ACCORDING TO GOTHEBORG RECORDS INTO THE PICTURE. BUT WHEN FACTORING IN THE ADVANCED AGED LOOK AND MARKINGS IT ALSO COULD BE ASSUMED AS AN IMPERIAL MADE PIECE YUZHI QIANLONG EMPEROR BY COMMAND. MANY BEIJING SHOPS OFFER COMPLETE FAKES NOW A DAYS. MOST ANTIQUE BEIJING SHOPS FROM THE OLD DAYS WERE ABOUT REAL QUALITY WORKS. ONES THAT WERE MENT TO STAND FOR MEANING AND RESPECT TO THE EFFORTS PUT INTO MAKING THE PIECE CHINESE WORTHY. NOW WE SHALL RETURN TO THE SCARCENESS OF THIS VESSEL OR VASE. THE VASE IS ALMOST IN DEDICATION TO THE KANGXI PERIOD AS FAR AS THE FLOWERS GO AND WHAT DETAIL. WE MUST KEEP IN MIND THAT THE KANGXI PERIOD REALLY TOOK FLORAL DEPICTIONS TO THE EXTREME. NATURE WAS HIGHLY ADVERTISED ALONG WITH ALL THAT MOTHER NATURE HAS TO OFFER. THIS WOULD MAKE SENSE FOR THE ELABORATE FLORAL MOULDED WORK LITERALLY POPPING OFF THE SIDES OF THIS BRONZE PIECE. EVEN THOUGH EARLY CHINESE REPUBLIC PIECES ARE HIGHLY COLLECTED THIS PIECE SEEMS MUCH OLDER BUT WE WILL LET YOU BE THE JUDGE ON THIS ALSO. ROYAL PIECES WERE OFTEN REPRODUCTIONS OF EARLIER STYLED WORKS THEY WOULD OFTEN MIMIC THE BEST FROM THE PAST IMPERIALS. THIS WAS DONE FOR MANY REASONS MAINLY TO KEEP THE PERIOD ALIVE THROUGH THE COLLECTIONS OF CURRENT ROYALS. HUGE AMOUNTS OF ROYAL PIECES OFTEN DO NOT DATE TO THE CURRENT ERA OF PRODUCTION. ONE THING IS VERY CLEAR THIS IS NOT AN ORDINARY VESSEL OR VASE AND IT IS NOT JUST OLD BUT ANTIQUE AND VERY VIBRANT IN ARTWORK. THE MEASUREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS HEIGHT 5.5″ x 2 1/4″ BASE DIAMETER OVERALL WIDTH 2 3/4 AND FOR IT’S SIZE HAS JUST ABOUT MORE ARTWORK THAN YOUR AVERAGE LARGE VASE. WE HAVE GIVEN ALL INFORMATION TO OUR BEST ABILITY AND KNOWLEDGE. AND EXPECT THAT YOU AS THE COLLECTOR OF SUCH WORKS WILL NOTICE TOP WORK WHEN SEEING TOP WORK. ARTERATURE IS HERE FOR THE FELLOW COLLECTOR AND YOUR TRUST AND RELIABILITY IN US TO BE YOUR NEXT TOP SOURCE OF ARTWORK IS OUR GOAL. YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO RECEIVE THIS RARITY AT A VERY VERY LOW PRICE ONCE MORE WE ASK THAT YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH ON “EARLY REPUBLIC” BRONZES & “FOUR CHARACTER QIANLONG YUZHI MADE BY COMMAND OF EMPEROR” BRONZES. COMPARE THEIR EXACT MARKINGS, THE AMAZING DETAILS IN THE PIECES AND VALUES OF THEM ALL ALSO. AGAIN THANKS FOR STOPPING BY PLEASE ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR DAY OR NIGHT BLESS YOU ALL.. Rare Early Heath Ceramics Sea And Sand Combed Studio Vase C. 1948
RARE EARLY HEATH CERAMICS SEA & SAND COMBED STUDIO VASE C. I have seen only one other Heath Sea & Sand studio vase in my 30 years of avid collecting. T he museum-quality v ase is o f impressive size and technique, featuring a hand-combed semi-gloss and heavily speckled Sand exterior with a rich high-gloss Sea interior. The hand-combed surface and basket f orm is reminiscent of California N ative American basketry, possibl y produced for exhibition purposes. T his piece is n ot commercial Heath Ceramics dinnerware, but is a studio vase made for exhibition. In fact, this is not a commercial f orm meant for production. This is the only example of this form a nd glaze combination I have ever encountered. The vase measures 6. 5 h igh with a 7. 5 diameter at the shoulder. The vessel is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It is signed with the early Heath & Teacup mark. The vase exhibits an incredible amount of handwork including the deeply hand- combed exterio r. S tudio vases by Heath Ceramics are extremely rare and almost never appear on the market as most of them are already in private and museum collections. This unique and important Heath Pottery vase will find favor with collectors of Studio masters such as Otto and Gertrud Natzler, Marguerite Wildenhain, Vivika and Otto Heino, Bea Wood, Glen Lukens, Antonio Prieto and Peter Voulkos. Dont miss this opportunity to acquit th is rare and important piece. As one of the earliest examples of Edith Heaths studio work, it will find favor with collectors of Studio masters such as Otto and Gertrud Natzler, Marguerite Wildenhain, Vivika and Otto Heino, Bea Wood, Glen Lukens, Antonio Prieto and Peter Voulkos.
