Antique French Red and White Toile 1810 -1820 Early 19th C. Antique French early 19th C red and off white Wedding Toile on printed cotton. The design is charming and the details are quite exquisite! This rare, lovely antique French textile is in it’s original form, never washed, formerly hung as a bed curtain. All completely hand stitched in a quilted diamond pattern onto a off white muslin or thin linen cloth backing. No batting inside as this was to be displayed flat as a bed curtain or valance. Excellent condition for it’s age! Not washed or pressed, in it’s original, found condition. This elongated panel has a scalloped edge at the bottom with three edges; the sides and bottom, all hand stitched. With a narrow hem and the top of the panel has a raw cut edge that could easily be hemmed under as well if you wish to display it on the wall. Some small areas of soiling at the very bottom of the front of panel. There are two little hole areas within the same location as the larger hole shown in the back. The backing shows some storage marks/soiling. A hole as shown in the photo, and four little rust holes at the very bottom near the scalloped edge where it was once (commonly) nailed down. Absolutely stunningly beautiful panel! Perfect for a lovely wedding gift, pillows, light upholstery, lamps, framing, covered journals, table runners, home furnishings, or a very special sewing project. 30 in length measured down the middle to the bottom of the scalloped edge. Antique French early 19th c old toile RARE Stag Deer toile de Alsace c1820

LOVELY and so very very rare. I’ve never seen this wonderful toile before! This lovely textile is French and dates from the early 1800’s. This textile was once a bed curtain and has the most wonderful scalloped top! Peeking under the scalloped edge you can see more of the wonderful toile!! This textile is backed in a finely woven linen and cotton blend and there is a light cotton batting between the layers. It’s hand quilted in a light , diamond pattern. This panel is hand stitched along the edges and the scalloped top section is trimmed with a homespun linen , all hand stitched. A STUNNING and rare toile! The tones have faded beautifully with time to a beautiful pink and rosy red tone This textile has a hem using red thread to shorten the panel, just under the scallop. These red threads can be removed easily. MEASUREMENTS : The wonderful antique toile measures : 20 inches wide by 107 inches long. CONDITION: This textile is in as found, unwashed condition with storage dust. There ares some glorious hand stitched mends on this piece there is some light damage along the side edge The top of the panel has faded with time and just above the scallop the front fabric has little tears from sun damage. Please use the zoom feature to view condition closely Generally in lovely condition, however certainly not without signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful textiles. Hello and thank you for looking. One of my favorite toile designs! This textile is French and dates early 1800’s , c1815 This wonderful textile once hung as a bed curtain Stunning design! The tone of the toile has remained quite saturated in places and it has faded unevenly with time Gorgeous little cherubs!! This textile is hand stitched on all 4 edges and it’s backed in a very finely woven linen and cotton blend. There is one lovely hand woven hemp cord at the top where this textile once hung from a bed There is a very light cotton batting between the layers. It’s lightly quilted with a lovely diamond quilting design. A beautiful , beautiful toile! (please see my other textiles for more matching pieces to the set) (textile 26B). MEASUREMENTS : The wonderful antique toile measures : 21 inches wide by 92 inches long. CONDITION: This textile is in as found, unwashed condition with storage dust. Please view photographs which show the damage at the top and side edges! (please use the zoom feature to view condition closely) There are pale pepper marks (foxing) at the bottom of this textile on the back. All condition reflected in the price.
