4 rare early Spanish hispano moresque Arista tiles Seville 16Th Century

4 Original Spanish arista tiles. 4 rare Hispano Moresque Spanish tiles, made in Seville, Spain. The decoration is made using the Arista technique, which uses relief lines to separate the different glaze colors. These tiles are made in the 16th century. Bottom right tile: Blue-framed lozenge containing large flower head. A design invented by Nicoloso Francisco, Seville C 1520. Size: 12.8 x 12.8 cm and 2.5 cm thick. Top right tile: Examples of this tile are in the Carranza collection, on view at Alcazar palace, Seville. Size: 13.4 x 13.4 cm and 2.7 cm thick. Bottom left tile: Cross-shaped interlaces with brown central star. Size: 12.2 x 12.0 cm and 2.5 cm Thick. This tile was cut to two sides before it was put on the wall. Top left: green flowers within a blue frame. Much wear on surface of this tile, probably used as floortiles. Size:12.5 x 12.5 x 1.9 cm. With damaged you can expect for tiles this age. Please see item description. We offer this rare and stylish antique pair Italian maiolica tiles decorated with entertainers and dating from the early 19th century. The rectangular stoneware tiles are thickly potted and each has a scene with figures entertaining painted in coloured enamels on a white cracquel ground. One has a figure performing a hand stand while supporting two seated figures on a plank supported on his feet while the other tile is painted with an act involving a blind folded girl by a table with various shaped stones. The tiles are not marked. Condition The tiles are offered in excellent condition considering their age. There is no restoration and while having some glaze chipping around the edges this does not impact on the wonderful design of these stylish tiles.
