Here is a very early and special teddy bear. Characteristics of Bing, and Steiff like feet and arms, further study shows that the bear most resembles bears from the German company Kohler and Rosewald formed in 1909, in Nuremberg. The bear is believed to be one of their early bears, with the very large feet and hands, thicker ankles, long claws, and extra-long extremities. The linen pads are original. The bear is stuffed with excelsior, and has a remarkable intact muzzle and shape, large glass eyes and a very prominent hump. Bear is all original in good condition with some thinning to the mohair and a couple holes in the linen pads. Bertie is a wonderful old Bing teddy bear dating to c1910. You could easily mistake Bertie for a Steiff teddy bear. Measuring 19 with shoe button eyes, original beige nose/mouth stitching, wood wool stuffing with non working growler. Bertie is not perfect and does have a lot of wear and repairs including some darning to his tummy, repair to leg as well as repair to seam of leg, inserts to all his pads and some darkening to the top of right leg however he is a strong old boy with no fragility.
