Superb Quality Rare Large Antique (1920s) English Royal Doulton Hand Painted Glazed Pottery Teapot. Weighs just over 600g. In Excellent condition without any chips or cracks with only minor crazing at the base commensurate with age. Please browse all 12 sets of photographs attached for size, weight and condition as they are self explanatory. Royal Doulton was an English ceramic manufacturing company producing tableware and collectables, dating from 1815. Operating originally in London, its reputation grew in The Potteries, where it was a latecomer compared to Royal Crown Derby, Royal Worcester, Wedgwood, Spode and Mintons. Its products include dinnerware, giftware, cookware, porcelain, glassware, collectables, jewellery, linens, curtains and lighting. Three of its brands were Royal Doulton, Royal Albert and Mintons. These brands are now owned by WWRD Holdings Ltd (Waterford Crystal, Wedgwood, Royal Doulton), based in Barlaston near Stoke-on-Trent. On 2 July 2015 the acquisition of WWRD by the Finnish company Fiskars Corporation was completed. The Royal Doulton company began as a partnership between John Doulton, Martha Jones, and John Watts, with a factory in Lambeth London around 1815. Doulton products came to the attention of the Royal family. In 1901 King Edward VII granted the Burslem factory the Royal Warrant, allowing the business to adopt new markings and a new name, Royal Doulton. The company added products during the first half of the 20th century while manufacturing fashionable and high-quality bone china. The Lambeth factory closed in 1956 due to clean air regulations. Pearson & Son Ltd, a subsidiary of the Pearson industrial conglomerate acquired Doulton & Co. Pearson & Son owned Allied English Potteries and merged operations into Doulton & Co. All brands from Allied English Potteries and Doulton & Co. Including Royal Doulton, Minton, Beswick, Dunn Bennett, Booths, Colclough, Royal Albert, Royal Crown Derby, Paragon, Ridgway, Queen Anne, Royal Adderley and Royal Adderley Floral were moved under the umbrella of Royal Doulton. However in 2005 Waterford Wedgwood completed a takeover of Royal Doulton acquiring all assets and brands. In September 2005, the Nile Street factory also closed. Along with other Waterford Wedgwood companies, went into administration on 5 January 2009. Royal Doulton is now part of WWRD Holdings Ltd. Some items are now made in the parent company, WWRD Holdings Ltd in Barlaston, south of the Potteries Conurbation. Further production is carried out in abroad including Indonesia and Poland. On 2 July 2015 the acquisition of WWRD by Fiskars Corporation was completed including brands Waterford, Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Royal Albert and Rogaska. The acquisition was approved by the US antitrust authorities.

This shop is to help me increase my knowledge and help homeless pre-loved vintage items find a new forever home and survive a bit longer to be appreciated by future generations. I’m not here to rip people off or make a quick buck so if you have a problem I will always try to sort it out quickly and fairly so we can part as friends and you’ll feel safe to come back. Please read the description and look at the photos as I try to document all features and any damage. Terms like “excellent” or “very good condition” are subjective but I mean for their age and consistent with normal use. For example, it is unreasonable to expect a 1930s household item to be immaculate but if it is I will describe it as immaculate or mint. In the unlikely event that on receipt of your item, you are not completely satisfied please do not hesitate to contact me so that we can resolve the problem. My promise to you. I list items as accurately as I can; if I can see an item isn’t perfect I’ll say so in the description. Please bear in mind, my items are vintage and so will show some wear typical of their age. For example having movement scratches or scuffs underneath. I research every piece using books, catalogues and the internet but I’m not an expert on everything by any means and collecting vintage glass is my hobby not my profession, so if you think I have misdescribed something please let me know so I can learn from you and change the listing. All fragile items will be sent in sturdy boxes wrapped in bubble wrap paddled out with void paper. I know how disappointing it is when an item arrives broken. Please get in touch if you have a problem and take some photos of the damage. More expensive items are sent tracked and insured for my protection and yours. This is a non smoking home – but not pet free. Random dogs may find their way into photos and these are not included in the sale!

RARE LATE 19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE CHINESE HAND CARVED & HAND PAINTED WOODEN BATTLE HORSE with LONG SADDLE on RAISED PEDESTAL BASE. Late 19th to early 20th century Qing Dynasty hand carved & hand painted wood sculpture. 11 3/4″ Height x 3″ Depth x 9 1/2 Width. 100% untouched and undisturbed. Offered for your review and consideration is this simply wonderful, estate fresh and absolutely uncompromised late 19th to early 20th century Chinese antique polychrome, wood-carved standing horse figure on a raised pedestal base. The figure is completely hand carved and hand painted with charcoal black, deep reddish burnt sienna and gold enamel paint. The figure is from the imperial Qing Dynasty and showcases a Chinese war or battle horse, with front coiled satchel used to carry possibly ammunition, black powder or lead balls, if the rider was armed with a musket. The large leather saddle, possibly a ceremonial one, has long, highly decorative side protection plates and has a sculpted form, allowing the rider to sit snugly and free up his arms holding a bow and arrow or even possibly a musket. The entire horse figure stands on attention poised atop a four ringed raised, pedestal platform and is banded with fluctuating red and black stripes of color. The entire figure is painted by hand with the base plate remaining unpainted. It was carved from a single wood block. Fantastic original paint and original surfaces. There’s some minor to moderate paint loss in places on the horse figure and on the raised pedestal platform base. No attempt has been made to’in-paint’ or to remediate these episodes of paint loss. It remains, undusted, unrinsed and untouched. It’s the same as when it was taken from the Massachusetts estate from where it was first discovered. An extraordinary late 19th to early 20th century Chinese antique artifact, if only because it remains completely unbastardized and left alone. Beautiful Chinese folk art wood carving and quick, gestural, kinetic enamel paint decoration, make this particular Chinese polychrome carved wooden war horse figure, a truly lost gem. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. This item is in the category “Antiques\Asian Antiques\China\Figurines & Statues”. The seller is “modsanctuary” and is located in this country: US.
