19 RARE EARLY 1920s ANTIQUE FRENCH TOY & NOVELTY CO. Fantastic, rare example of an early antique 1920s French Toy & Novelty Co. Ear squeakers are present although retired. This beautiful bear is 19 tall, combo stuffed with excelsior and kapok and has a hump back. Her long, gold mohair coverage is excellent. Black boot button eyes. Black horizontally stitched nose and mouth. Paw pads are felt and fully intact with all original stitching. Please review all photos as they serve as part of the description. A WONDERFUL AND HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER COLLECTABLE MID VICTORIAN NOVELTY TRAVEL INKWELL IN THE FORM OF A LADY’S LEATHER SHOE/BOOT WITH LACE DETAILING FRONT. ON THE FRONT OF THE BOOT THERE IS A CONCEALED BUTTON THAT RELEASES THE LID TO REVEAL A BRASS INTERIOR AND A SIDE-SPRING CLASP WHICH RELEASES THE BRASS LID TO EXPOSE THE ORIGINAL GLASS REMOVABLE INKWELL AND SEAL. THE PIECE DATES TO THE EARLY TO MID 19TH CENTURY AND COULD POSSIBLY EVEN BE GEORGIAN. THE BODY IS MADE FROM BRASS WITH A GORGEOUS LEATHER COVERING WHICH IS IN NEAR PRISTINE CONDITION. THE SMALL GLASS INKWELL/LINER IS ORIGINAL AND IS UNDAMAGED WITH NO CRACKS OR CHIPS. THE LID OPENS AND OPERATES CORRECTLY AND THE WELL COVER LATCH SPRINGS OPEN PERFECTLY. A VERY RARE AND ATTRACTIVE COLLECTABLE PIECE AND HARD TO FIND IN SUCH GOOD CONDITION ESPECIALLY THE STUNNING CONDITION OF THE LEATHER. IT MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 3.3/4″ IN LENGTH AND 2.1/4″ IN HEIGHT.
