GREAT ANTIQUE VERY LARGE & EARLY GERMAN PAPIER MACHE DOLL RARE! Exposed Ears
This doll is believed to be an early German Papier Mache shoulder head doll from the mid or early 1800s. The doll is unmarked. She is 31 tall! The doll has a unique expression , black hair, exposed ears, and blue painted eyes. She has kid leather arms that appear to go all the way up to the shoulders. I have not completely undressed her, but the leather is intact at least passed her elbows. She has a cloth body which appears to be original and in good condition but may have been replaced over the years. The clothes are old but again, I cannot determine if they are original. The clothes are in fairly good condition with some tearing of the lace. Her face has multiple rubs and one larger chip on the forehead. There is some loss of coloring on her cheeks but they eyes are still very vibrant. All of these imperfections should be evident in the pictures. All of her fingers are in tact. Overall this very unique doll which would be impressive any collection! Please feel free to ask any questions. The item “GREAT ANTIQUE VERY LARGE & EARLY GERMAN PAPIER MACHE DOLL RARE! Very Rare Telegraph Pottery Art Nouveau Large Vase/Jardiniere Circa Early 20th C
Very Rare Telegraph Pottery Art Nouveau Large Vase/Jardiniere Circa Early 20th C. 16 cm (6.25) high. Rare Art Nouveau large vase/jardinière, probably made in the early part of the 20th Century, in the USA by Telegraph Pottery. It is not easy to identify early 20th century (or late 19th century) Art Nouveau pieces. There were many being produced, both in Europe, and in the USA, but they are all very rare now. This particular example, does have certain affinities, with many of the US schools, like Teco, Rookwood, Rumrill, Red Wing, etc. All are very collectable, and this is a superb example. This piece has a brown and green drip glaze, and gorgeous Art Nouveau styled moulded decorations. It is embossed on the base, with the “Telegraph” name, and the number #4. Very good condition, no chips or cracks, but fine crazing throughout. This rare Art Nouveau piece would make a great addition to any collection. Check out my other items. I have other rare pieces of English, European, US & Australian Pottery, Art Glass, Fine Porcelain as well as many other collectable items. Be sure to add me to your favourites list. Over the next 25 years they would make several changes of premises within the Whitechapel area first to 27 Great Alie St. Now just Alie St. Before moving a short distance to 34 Great Alie St. In 1844 the company made its first venture into upholstered antique furniture by opening a showroom/workshop at 36 Red Lion St. Their next move in 1848 was to their most famous location, Berners St, London which was named John Howard and Sons, Cabinet maker, upholsterer and decorator. The business seemed to boom from this location with workshops opening at Tottenham St, Charlotte Mews and Fitzroy Square plus expansion into a second building on Berners St in 1853. In 1869 the company consolidated its many workshops into one building on Cleveland St and by 1872 the company was occupying 25, 26 and 27 Berners St. These addresses remained unchanged until 1935.
