Probably it was detached from an old anatomy book. It’s dated 1903. The pictures explain in the best way. Antique Early Victorian Australian Opal Ring Rare And Incredible. I think where words fail me, pictures will speak volumes for this stone. A gorgeous and large Victorian opal set in a silver pinched setting was likely once part of a magnificent river necklace of similar opals – can you imagine the impact that would’ve had on a Victorian lady’s neck? This stone is magical and full of life. Every angle reveals flashes of reds, blues, greens, and oranges and in almost any light. This is no wallflower. Some opals only showcase their colours at one or two angles – not this one. A huge finger presence measuring at 25mm x 15mm x 5mm, approximately 10ct. Although a sizeable stone, opals tend to take on a subtlety that cannot be matched with other stones so this is a versatile piece; able to be dressed up or down. Full hallmarks on the inside of the shank for 9k. This was done sometime in its history and I do not want to replace it. Opal is stable and secure in the setting.
