Rare 18th Century Early Meissen Antique German Porcelain Dove Pigeon Tureen

RARE 18TH CENTURY EARLY MEISSEN ANTIQUE GERMAN PORCELAIN DOVE PIGEON TUREEN. EXCEPTIONALLY FINE AND RARE EARLY MEISSEN LIDDED SAUCE TUREEN. Presenting a magnificent 18th Century soft paste porcelain tureen and cover naturalistically modelled into the of a nesting dove / pigeon. This exceptional example was produced by the quality German makers, Meissen, circa mid to late 1700s. The beautifully modelled dove is seated upon a basket moulded base with applied shredded clay foliage trimming the top of the nest. This piece is wonderfully finished in naturalistic glazes. This piece is presented in very good antique condition with some exceptionally minor losses to the shredded clay foliage noticeable only on extremely close examination but mentioned for complete accuracy. There appears to be a minor old repair to one side of the birds tail which has been professionally done and incredibly hard to spot. We had to take a magnifyer to the piece and even then it was hard to detect. There is a minuscule fleabite sized nibble to the top of the crest upon the birds head and the tiniest rough spot to the tip of the birds beak. There is some internal staining which we have not attempted to bleach out or remove in any way and should be able to be lessened in the new owners preferred manner. Light overall surface crazing mentioned for accuracy. This authentic antique example has survived exceptionally well and presents spectacularly. The unglazed base is beautifully marked with Meissen’s brushed blue crossed swords. This impressive piece stands approx 120mms tall, measures 195mms in length and 78mms in width. Early Meissen examples such as this fine figural tureen are highly desirable and feature in top Museum collections. This stunning piece would make an outstanding addition to any early Meissen, quality antique porcelain or figural tureen collection! GREAT ANTIQUE VERY LARGE & EARLY GERMAN PAPIER MACHE DOLL RARE! Exposed Ears

This doll is believed to be an early German Papier Mache shoulder head doll from the mid or early 1800s. The doll is unmarked. She is 31 tall! The doll has a unique expression , black hair, exposed ears, and blue painted eyes. She has kid leather arms that appear to go all the way up to the shoulders. I have not completely undressed her, but the leather is intact at least passed her elbows. She has a cloth body which appears to be original and in good condition but may have been replaced over the years. The clothes are old but again, I cannot determine if they are original. The clothes are in fairly good condition with some tearing of the lace. Her face has multiple rubs and one larger chip on the forehead. There is some loss of coloring on her cheeks but they eyes are still very vibrant. All of these imperfections should be evident in the pictures. All of her fingers are in tact. RARE EARLY Antique 1559 LAZARUS GERMAN STEIN SCHNELLE TANKARD Siegburg F. Trac

Presented for your consideration is this early antique German beer tankard (also referred to as a stein or schnelle). Dating to 1559, the tankard is made of white stoneware and originates from the Siegburg region of Germany. These tall, cylindrical tankards were first produced in Cologne before being adopted by Siegburg potters. The tall, vertical shape offered lots of surface area for low-relief decoration. Scenes depicted on these 16th century steins were a range of mythological, biblical and heraldic subjects. The three panels on this stein have a matching scene that depicts the expulsion of Lazarus from Rich Man’s Table which comes from the biblical tale/parable of the Rich Man & Lazarus. Pictured is Lazarus, a beggar, desiring to be fed the scraps and crumbs from the Rich Man’s table while dogs lick Lazarus’ sores. A man is chasing Lazarus from the table, expelling him from the premises. The scene below the “Expulsion” scene shows a dog licking a deer while two men stand over the deer. One of the men is holding an ax. On the line separating the scenes it is marked with Lazarus. ” At the bottom of each scene panel is a ribbon that reads “1559 and just above the ribbon are the initials F. These initials stand for F. Trac (Track) who was employed at the first Knutgen workshop. His most famous tankard is “Lazurus” and one of these tankards sits in the Munich Museum in Germany. This museum quality stein has exquisite detailing throughout the exterior and handle with minimal wear. Tankards similar to this one can currently be seen in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Met. This stein is a very rare find as the art of these tankards was lost in Siegburg in 1632 when the town was destroyed by the Swedes, making this a very valuable tankard. This would make a great addition to any ancient item, religious or antique stein collection! Perfect for displaying in a German heritage museum! Light roughness and chipping is along the edges of the handle. A small surface chip is on the edge of one of the panels and another small surface chip is near the top edge on one side. Overall in EXCELLENT condition for its age! Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details. Measures approximately 5″ from the back edge of the handle to the front of the stein, 3 7/8″ in diameter at the bottom and 11 1/2 tall.
