Rare Antique Hertwig Nodding Dog or Bear. Bisque Porcelain. Germany Early 1900s

An extremely rare early example of a nodding dog or bear, made of bisque porcelain in Germany in the early 1900s. It is probably by Hertwig and would make a superb addition to a collection of’nodders’ or vintage toy collectibles. The matt porcelain is white with brown hand-painted colour to the animal’s face and body. The head is permanently attached to the body by a wire pin which is in good working order and, as you can see from the video, there is plenty of nodding action! This lovely little piece, which is unmarked, is in excellent condition. There is very small nick underneath the head – I only noticed it when studying the photos so it’s really hard to see. However I have taken it into account when pricing. Please note that some of these photos were taken in golden yellow sunlight. The more accurate colour is on the video. Do have a good look at all the pics and ask away if you require any further info or images. Nose to tail the figure is approx 8 cms (3.15 inches) long and stands 4.5 cms (1.75 inches) tall.

RARE EARLY to MID 18th. CENTURY LARGE HAND PAINTED. DELFT WALL PLAQUE of a RURAL SCENE. This is a wonderful early to mid 18th. Century hand painted blue and white Delft tin glazed plaque of Dutch origin. In a square form with decorative cantered corners it depicts a lovely hand painted stylised image of a rural scene on the edge of a town environment with a group of three beneath a tree with agricultural implements in the foreground. It is contained inside a raised decorative border with a suspension point above, while the reverse has a light blue glaze and an under-glaze hand painted’P’ – see photographs and details. It measures 10 3/4 (27.25cm) Sq. Approx; and is in very good condition for a piece of tin glazed faience of its age however, there are two shallow very, very (they may even have been present when it was made) old sliver chips to the reverse bottom right hand edge and some small frits to its face side, to report – see photographs and details. This is a lovely, unusual Delft hand painted Wall Plaque with an interesting subject, which with a low start price should get a good deal of interest from all collectors. THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS SALE. Almost everything I sell is in the condition I have bought it, unless otherwise stated, (I have learnt to my cost in the past not to tamper with an item), and therefore I have neither had items repaired nor restored. Very early circa 1910s mens keds found with ww1 us navy uniform. Marked on bottom 9. Very narrow and has will need to be formed since they sat in storage for over 100 years. Rubber bottoms have some wear in areas. It still very durable and in nice shape. The canvas also is in very nice shape. Still a bit dusty in spots, haven’t attempted to clean. Original laces, very nice inside and out. See photos ask any quesitos needed.

RARE ANTIQUE EARLY 1800s BAMBOO GAME DISH with LID CANE CANEWARE YELLOW WARE

Here we have a rarely found game dish dating to the early 1800s. This is finely molded with the raised relief bamboo stalks decorating the base and lid. This pattern was influenced by pottery imported from China during the early 1800s. This yellow ware form is referred to as cane with only the inside of the base being glazed. This allows for the great molded detail that would not be as prominent if the surface was glazed. The game dish measures 3″ in height and 4 ¾”in width. The game dish is in mint condition with no damage or repairs and the lid has only chips on the underside that don’t detract. The underside of the lid is impressed with the patent number and the bottom of the dish has a raised letter “B”. This is a pattern very rarely found and is highly collectable.
