For your consideration, I have a rare swivel neck with cobalt blue enamel sleep eyes in original set. Her only flaw is the chip in the top of her left leg. Early peg jointed arms and legs. There are two kinds of antique roses at her neck. The Antique cotton tulle bobble tambour. Lace has a touch of blush to it. The under dress is also rare lame silk and she has silk covered buttons. Her hat has a feather that of sets the color in her skirt. The silk ribbon in her hat is also very old. The hat is made out of tiny point de spirit lace and lavender silk ribbon with pink silk ribbon on the edge. She will bring joy to you every time you look at her. She was originally made from 1880 to 1899 in France or Germany. Thank you for looking. Antique Rare DOOR OF HOPE Mission DOLL Oriental Carved Wood Head Early Period

Door of Hope Mission Doll. Rare seldom seen, Antique Vintage early period COLLECTIBLE DOOR OF HOPE MISSION WOMAN DOLL, CIRCA 1901. Door of Hope was created in Shanghai, China in 1901 to help destitute children. These dolls were made TO help fund the mission. Young girls of the mission intricately handmade each doll’s clothing replicating what the Chinese people worn. The heads/neck area of the early period dolls were carved of Chinese fruitwood (generally Pearwood), while their arms, hands and feet were made of cloth. In later years the dolls hands and arms to the elbow, and sometimes feet and legs were also made of wood. The wood is very smooth, unvarnished with great detail. ThE eyes hair and lips would then be lightly handpainted almost like stained/brushed/rubbed with color. The bodies were made of cloth stuffed with raw cotton and bound feet. There were no markings on these dolls. This doll is from the 1. Early edition early period. Her HEAD/neck area is carved OF fruitWOOD (generally pearwood). Her hair is in a carved bun style with gold accents and handpainted/stained face. Her body is the early period cloth body with cloth hands circa 1901. She wears a long black skirt over long blue pants, with long sleeve mandarin collar tunic top. She has tiny feet with bound silk and embroidered slippers/shoes pointed up. There is a slight rub spot on the bottom back of her skirt from age as is typical with silk-(see photo). She is great condition for her age AND A BEAUTIFULLY HANDCRAFTED DOLL. Her face needs cleaning or could be darker from age, we have let it in its original condition. There is a slight rub spot on the bottom BACK oF her SKIRT/dress from AGE/storage as is typical with silk (SEE PHOTO w/circle-hard to see). Also just beneath this is a tiny white speck. Also there is a worn spot on the back of her sleeves of the tunic , as shown in photos, typical from age. We have tried to describe everything we see. As is typical with something of this age there may be slight other imperfections we have not seen. Everything is described to the best of knowledge. Here we have Alice in rare pink dress instead of the blue much scarcer her condition is lovely with patina as she is cloth and almost 1 0 years old , she is all original her eye lashes are beautiful she measures 20 inches tall the mad hatter is awesome made of cloth and wool felt he has incredible detail glass eyes paper square on hat that has a price in pounds I believe the character always depicted with the paper square , even has a matching hanky in pocket that matches bow tie. He measures about 20 inches to top of hat. The March hare is all wool felt with glass two tone eyes beautiful great detail he is 12 inches top of head and 15 inches to top of ears. The queen is small? 8 inches tall all cloth with printed type face amazing detail she has mohair hair. The Dodo bird measures almost 12 inches tall being made us out with three tone glass eyes has a bamboo cane amazing construction wire felt poseable tail suede face with embroidered features fantastic doll oil cloth bill , this set of antique dolls I have never seen might be one of a kind mightve been used as a shop display?
