Large Antique Solid Oak Coffer Chest. Period Oak Country Antique Coffer is of pegged construction. Which has a name and the date of 1731 carved at the base. Also has a later candle box. We believe the carved name and date would probably be of a much later date to the coffer as was so often the case, this would therefore make this a much earlier piece, and seeing its construction and the oak planks age could well be as early as 16th Century! Amazing period antique still has its original hinges to the lid above a detailed carved panelled front. This charming antique Oak Coffer stands on raised feet and is beautifully aged and with good patina. It has a large internal space. There are signs of old historic woodworm throughout – this is long gone and has been fully treated as a precaution. It has also been cleaned using a traditional form of antique wax finishing to feed the wood. This item is in the category “Antiques\Antique Furniture\Trunks & Chests”. EARLY & RARE STERLING SILVER POCKET WHISKEY FLASK MAKER & DATE HALLMARKED. EARLY & RARE WILLIAM IV STERLING SILVER POCKET WHISKEY. CAMPAIGN FLASK FULLY LONDON HALMARKED / MAKER. CHARLES REILY & GEORGE STORER / DATED 1833. This is a high quality, Maker hallmarked and dated, Antique early 19. Sterling silver campaign Whiskey flask in an unusual small cylindrical shape. This eye appealing flask is completely hand made in the very desirable small size pocket flask size; 3 ½ tall flask x 1 ½ in diameter and is intended as a pocket flask, typically kept inside a jacket pocket. This is called a campaign flask as it was intended for a gentleman and sportsman to take along on any hunting, sporting event, for traveling or just carry for an occasional nip. The cylindrical body has a flat plate silver soldered to the bottom of the base which has slightly rounded edges. The mushroom shaped sterling silver screw cap has a slightly domed top with a collar on the top and bottom of the neck. The threaded screw top appears to have the original cork insert and secures the top to the bottle securely and appears it would hold liquid if used; but it has not been tested. The front face of the body has personalized initials in Old English script that appears to be W T C. Being handmade, this piece has a very slight undulations in the body as it was hand hammered from the inside. There are no real dents; just one small ding on the back side opposite the engraved initials. This piece seems heavy for its size, weighing 2 ounces or 55 grams. This piece has 4 Hallmark markings; CG is the Maker Mark of Charles Reily & George Storer / London. This mark was first registered in 1829, and the firm was in business from 1828 to 1850. The hallmark to the right is the duty mark with the profile of King George IV, used from 1822 to 1833. This flask was made in 1833, the last year this mark was used before the new Regency mark for King William began in 1834. The next mark is the Lion mark for. 925 Sterling, and the mark S is the London date mark for 1833. The 521 and BB scratched into the base represent an inventory # and the initials of the Artisan/Craftsman of the firm. This handsome pocket Whiskey campaign flask was hand crafted by Artisans in Old England, remains in excellent condition overall with a very light, natural aged patina, and demonstrates this piece has been put up and well taken care of in its 188 years of age. Small pocket flasks from this period are quite rare in this condition. This would be great for any Whiskey or Spirits, gambling, or flask collection; and could still be used by any gentleman, sportsman, hunter, outdoors man, or sports fan; or use as a gift, decorator piece in any Man cave, office, or den. Moon, Tides, Date, Month of Year. A fascinating longcase clock with a very rare and unusual dial. The dial is marked for Placidus Penyston. The style of dial and movement have features which place them in the very early era of longcase clock making, possibly around 1700. The dial has particularly rare features, especially so considering its age. The subsidiary seconds and date are fairly standard for clocks of this type although the date inset is unusually placed. In addition, there is a penny moon cut-out with extra smaller windows for moon-phase and time of high water. Finally, and virtually never seen, is a rectangular inset revealing the current month of the year. The 8 day striking movement looks typical of those found around 1700. It is quite tall with five knopped and finned pillars. It has an inside countwheel, and the anchor location is lower than in later movements. The clock also comes with an ancient looking pair of brass-cased lead weights. I cant say for certain that these are original but certainly could be given the age of the clock. Overall condition is very good. The dial is clean and bright with good silvering to the rings. The movement is clean and runs well. All extra dial functions are connected and working apart from the year dial. I can see no sign that this was ever connected so probably for manual adjustment. The case is sound and solid with some age-related marks and movement. Dimensions are: height 74 inches, width 20 inches (top of hood), depth 11 inches (again top of hood). The dial is 11 inches square. The clock is complete with brass-cased lead weights, brass faced pendulum and winder. Viewing and collection welcome. The item “Early Longcase Clock.
