FINE QUALITY RARE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY CHINESE CARVED SLIDING TOP TANGRAM PUZZLE BOX. This is a very Rare late 18th early 19th Century Chinese tangram puzzle box, late 18th early 19th century, i would estimate a date of circa 1800. Making this rare puzzle box over 200 years old. This rare puzzle box has a sliding lid carved with five figures and pagodas with flowering shrubs in a `bamboo` frame. There are rural scenes carved around the sides of the box and inside on the bottom you will see it is carved with three figures and pagodas with flowering shrubs again, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, there are no puzzle piece with this box, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy 18th Century Gentleman many years ago when times were so very different, if this box could talk i can just imagine what fascinating stories it could tell, this snuff box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. The condition is nice with no actual damage to the carving, though it appears the base my have come away and been put back on as there are tiny gaps to the edging, it is in need of a clean, but then it is over 200 years old and such a rare object. 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches and 2 cm height.
